I've been searching about for a new frame. Trawling Canadian Ebay I came across this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Columbus-Brain-Tubing-MARIN-TWIN-PEAKS-Frame-Set-made-by-MARIN-RACING-Bike-Italy-/111121609190
Is it genuine? It looks to be. I've never heard or seen of one before. Since when have Marin ever produced a road frame? Do you think it was perhaps built buy someone other than Marin and then sprayed up as a Marin for a team rider, or as a prototype?

Well, the sticker says the Billato brothers built it, so I'd be inclined to believe that, I guess. They've contract built for most of the big names in the last 30 years, so... If it were a cm shorter in the top tube, I'd have hit B-I-N before responding.

I could have sworn that my friend's small pro team rode those around '99-2000. They looked just like that but without the Twin Peaks name and logo.

Remember the Giordana Spica and Strada XL? Those were built by Billato as well. Just as a for instance.

I'm tempted, I must admit. My first proper bike was a Marin!
It's been on ebay before, it's got 14 watchers and it still hasn't sold. I think I might see if they lower the price again.

I had one of the slightly lower end (Treviso) models. Still Bilato built, but Zona instead of Brain.
Really, really loved that bike. Many very happy hours on it Got stolen.
I actually wrote to Marin in SF asking if they had anymore, and they did. This was about two years back though.

My brother has a titanium Marin road frame. I believe it was called Highway 1. Long top tube short seat tube and a little soft in the BB. IIRC, the serial # on his is very low like #5 or so.

These are legit Belloto Brothers built frames. I bought one with a great Foco tube-set off the forum a few years ago for my brother. http://forums.thepaceline.net/showthread.php?t=57255&highlight=marin The finish quality of the wields was not perfect but it was a cool and interesting frame. I want one in my size but have never seen one. Belloto has built frames for many big name companies like Lemond.

I almost bought a San Marino just like this one a couple of years ago here in VT. Nice bike.

Mine was red with yellow accents on one side, and yellow with red accents on the other. Split down the middle like Two Face from Batman.
Well, now I want one again.
