If the rubber in the brake hoods were in decent shape (which is highly unlikely) I might be willing to pay $10 for that thing. Otherwise, you couldn't pay me to take it off your hands.

Exactly, except that this one took much longer to create and required a very specific type of treatment and environment, hence the high cost.
