High class problem of the day:

Could you help me pick a color for my upcoming Weigle? Think rando/sportif as classy as they come - chromed fork tips, some box lining, fenders, silver components, etc.

I put together a Flickr gallery that has some colors that jump out at me:

Votes, opinions, new suggestions and witty banter please.

Powder blue frame with subtle orange highlights, chrome fork and a bit of chrome on the rear. Not in your mix, but you're close. I like the color schemes on some of the Kirks...check them out.

I like all those blue and green colors. Whatever you pick, I would love the brown - brown look. Brown Handlebra with a brown brooks saddle looks so good. Or your could go honey and honey. Throw a buch of silver on the thing and you can ride the world decked out in the epitome of class.

I rescind my suggestion and am going with this.

For a while, I was really hot on the pale blue idea... but lately I've felt it has been a very popular look. For what it's worth, I really enjoy your green Kirk.

This rolex has some interesting colors that might look good with the silver components... but honestly feel that when those colors get scaled up to the size of a bike, they may not look as interesting.

Mint green. That's a good name for it. It's a color that is striking yet has vintage appeal still.

Another beautiful green bike wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.

JPW did a surprise me color for a friend of mine that he knows very well, and it is beautiful. That's a possibility.

I'm having a custom 650b machine painted now. It's a very Routens-eque frame and I really thought I wanted a pale blue or green. I decided against the classic French blue and after some discussion the builder (also the painter) mixed up a color with sea foam green and an olive drab. I liked it, but could imagine maybe not loving it some years down the road.

In the end he suggested a dark, glossy, British Racing Green with gold pinstriping. It's classic and I think I'll be really happy with it.

BRG with box lining is timeless.

The robins egg blue (gallery item 3) is indeed popular. Looks good on a Rene Herse, Routens, any French bike, so why not! JPW's metallic silvery light blue (item 2) is a more interest version of that IMO.

BRG- sure, that would be one of my top choices- cream or champagne panel. But nix the lug outlines especially in gold, it's cheesy. Sorry but let the lugs stand by themselves, lug outlines look like this. Keep it simple and classy, more than a couple of simple stripes at the panel edges and you're trying too hard.

I saw pics of this bike just a couple weeks after deciding on the color. I definitely made me feel good about my choice!

My frame is fillet brazed and will have actual pinstriping or "flourish stripes" as some call them; not unlike a Jack Taylor. I'm generally not a fan of lug lining.

British racing green, cream HT, and wherever else you'd like.

Pearl white - or egg shell. Black is heavy, but always looks good w chrome.

A light or medium metallic blue is a classic color for this kind of bike and it shows off the lugwork, which non-metallic colors don't do so well. My favorite is an Imron color, Biscayne Blue.

Just out of curiosity who is building your bike? I'm thinking about a 650b bike.

They're all pretty much perfect, but in my mind, you just don't get more Peter Weigle than this:

Evan Jent (Pedimoto/Augusta). I don't believe he's a very prolific builder.

Weigle just does amazing work. You're really treating yourself to something special by having hime build you a bike, I think.

My bike will have the braze on for a seat tube light as well, but I'm having trouble sourcing a light.

^ Thank you! There were not in stock last week. That'll work, but I'd prefer a dynamo powered light. Unfortunately, Jitensha doesn't have any available at the moment.
