I thought Id share a piece thats recently come into my possession. The owner is a local pal and collector. This is a early 1950's Cambio Paris Roubaix and only made one year because the recenly released Grand Sport Derailleur was very much superior. I don't know this as fact but this might be the only one in existence that is NOS in the box. This differs from the Cambio Corsa in that one lever releases the wheel and moves the chain vs two on the Cambio Corsa. History is cool, enjoy.

That is very cool. I hate to ask but what is the estimated value?

If nothing shoes what kind of softies we are these days, this is it.

Have to back pedal and let the wheel flop around a bit till it changed gear, then clamp it down and keep going.

Beautiful piece of history.

It's been a long time since one has sold. I've been made aware there may be another in the box, but there surely can't be many.

If one becomes available I'm a buyer. The kids don't really need to go to college!

Should be in a museum. Simple and revolutionary.

If I can't use it without moving my hands from the hoods it's useless.

That's a gorgeous piece of history. Now, you need to find the rest of it - 35 lb. frame, too!

anyone know of a youtube video of this (or something like it) in operation? That'd be pretty cool to see something like it in action!

Michael Barry Sr. made a frameset a few years ago (possibly for DBRK?) that would use this shifter. I'll try to track down more info.

Not sure if this is the exact shifter or not, but should give you an idea of how they worked. Pretty cool!

Yup I was there for that Finger Lakes Ramble ... (2005?)

Beautiful bike as I remember it

Mr. Barry even rode it and shifted it !

There was a trick to shifting

That is super cool. Would love to have a piece like that. Course I'd want to use it too but not that one!

Yes, Pal Douglas has a Mariposa with this shifter.

thanks for the vids. That's flippin' cool how the rear wheel slides back/forth.

Whoever this guy is with the Mariposa should bring it out and let us take turns. I'll bring a case of Fat Tire!
