I haven't been on a carbon bike in a while and am going to pick one up. I really like the Specialized Roubaix but I just threw a leg over the older BMC team machine (the outgoing 2013 model) in size 53 and the bike fit me spot on. Rode it around the parking lot a little and it felt pretty well sorted - just wanted to see if there is any other input out there.

I think I am going to wait for the 2014 - the geometry is tweaked ever so slightly but not a lot, plus it is lighter and apparently much stiffer, for whatever that is worth.

I have one. I'm not sure if I want it any stiffer than it's now. Just got it dialed in. I ABSOLUTELY love the bike. Very responsive and stable. The dampening is not as good as the Cervelo R3 but I think it's more lively than the R3. If you can find a 2012 or 2013 version, they should be much cheaper than the new one coming out. I'm not sure how you're going to feel a difference when they claim #% stiffer.

I hear ya. I rode the SRAM red one today. They wanted 5999 for it on sale but the new one with ultegra 11 speed is 5600. Given that we are going to 11 across the board next year can't really justify paying more for 10. Thank you for the feed back though. Although it was a very brief teat ride I could see great potential!

Incidentally, I have a 53cm SLR01 Di2 that I am thinking of selling. If it is of interest, send me a PM...

i just rode a bmc with ultegra 10 speed parts for 8 days in the mountains of tuscany....amazing solid bike!

last year two of my team mates were looking for a great road bike...i pointed them to competitive cyclist, where they got the identical bike half off (or pretty close to it!).....they both bought one, and they both race on them and love the bikes.

great, well sorted-out machines

Even though the BMC team has a handful of bikes available to them. Most of them ride the Team Machine almost exclusively.

I had one for a short stint. I'll echo what has been said. A very nice bike all around. Responsive, stiff and comfortable. You could do much worse.

Are the new ones built up with the Easton carbon nanotube technology?

I don't think so but I could be wrong. According to this article, they are using internal molds.
