Still setting up the BMC monstercross. Ever have a build where when you're finished but some things don't seem to fit, or don't come out as expected? The kind where you might have to spray money at the issue till its good? :bike:

Shoe size is 10-10.5. Have ordered the standard MKS steel toe clips to mount on Silvan track pedals, but they *look* too tight height-wise for my running shoes, and the Vans I'll probably use most.

Should I return, or can I bend them to fit?

The MKS Super Toe *might* work, or might be too tall. Any other suggestions for single top arm clips? Brooks look nice, but expensive.

they're good at locating your feet, but no need to hassle with straps and buckles. 2 sizes: sm/med and lg/xl. work great!

You can totally bend the steel toe clips. At least raise the back end, where the strap goes through, and mold them to your shoes/feet as much as you like.

If you want clips, I'd really take a look at these...

He also sells a combo with White Ind pedals too...

The MKS will be fine for vans. They're flexy and accommodating. If you'll be wearing boots or similar, MKS makes an LL size.

Have you ever tried deep half clips? I like them.

+1 for just making the MKS fit...though I, like the Colonel, have some appreciation for deep half clips to accommodate street shoes. I'm a 10.5-11 US size, and use MKS L with my less chunky shoes, and half clips (MKS, Velo Orange) or MKS LL clips with shoes that just don't want to leave me in a comfortable place with those.

If you want to splurge, how about Hold Fast Straps (http://holdfastordie.com/store/foot-retention-system) ?

Available in a whole bunch of color combos.

+1 on the HoldFast. Been commuting in them for years, to the point where, in winter, my blundstones have HoldFast 'tanlines' where they're still dark brown, as opposed to dyed from salt and slush and muck. Adjustable on the fly, and/or set and forget, so can use any variation of shoes in them. Rock.

Decided to try bending the MKS into shape. In the meantime I want firmer foot-pedal control than those pedal straps.

Thanks!

I used to have some generic plastic clips and toshi straps on my commuter and they worked great. Might have to finally check out those hold-fasts once I get around to building another casual rider.
