This (http://forums.thepaceline.net/showthread.php?t=133797) is sad news, but the bikes are still out there, going strong. If you're currently riding a Serotta, I'd love to see a pic. Here's a terrible shot I just took of mine.

My CSI - purchased here as a frame set. Took a tour in Saratoga on a whim a few years ago while in the area and even though just an owner of a second hand 10 year old frame, treated like royalty. Met Ben and the full nine yards. Was proud that day to ride a Serotta; just as proud, if a bit sad, today.

My original Serotta shown here about five years ago after many many miles and with its third group. Bought it new in 1992 if I recall correctly. Incredible bike that afforded me many adventures and much enjoyment. Hanging in the closet now, as I need a much higher head tube these days. I ride two other Serottas these days, a CIII and a Ti MTB.

Thanks Ari and ebaumann - I had a Legend about 5 years ago for less than a year. It wasn't built for me and was really stout (read too stout). I ended up selling and thinking the Legend praise might have been over hyped. This bike rides much better. Light and snappy. Still dialing in the fit but so far i think this is a keeper. Ben and team did great work.

I'll post one of the two I've had -- since one passed through my hands rather quickly.

The oddball Serotta I picked up from Liberace. Reynolds 753 with James lugs in a beautiful Serotta blue. Since moved on to a friend who I think has it hanging out, sorting out what to build it with.

It's an HSG aero, the stock aero , the custom was the meiveci aero.

I found this at a LBS, that didn't want to sell to me.( said it wouldn't fit proper) after fitting we had to send the seat post to be cut down, but it fits perfect now.

Might have been a little expensive to get seat post cut, but overall I would buy the bike again

It was on the wall for 2 years I think, so I got a great deal.

all this past week I rode the singlespeed Legend that I got from Scott at Serotta, and it's amazing how smooth it is considering how stout the tubes are...

http://threadgill.smugmug.com/photos/i-dv8pqHX/0/XL/i-dv8pqHX-XL.jpg

Scott explained to me that this is probably one of perhaps two bikes made by the company that have this particular combination of features—the oversized seatstays that are 21mm at the widest point (ti seatstays on Legends are all tapered at both ends, but not usually this diameter tube), titanium 3D track dropouts, the flared chainstays, among other details...

Tandem - An Ebay steal. Never built up one-off wedding gift for a Serotta rep. The CSi was purchased through the Forum and the Nova was bought in '84 or '85 from a shop mechanic at Dale's Schwinn in Santa Rosa, CA. Many, many miles on all three.

Tandem: 3000+ miles/yr from 2001 - 2011 - working stiffs.
4500+ miles /yr now! 66 and 60, NOT employed and loving it.

That fade is absolutely great looking. Have you ever built it up with silver bits?

Originally it had DA 9spd and open pro silver with silver post,
F-1 fork painted to match and silver stem (threaded)

Went to the black look 10 years ago when I switched to the ouzo pro
fork. Right now it has rival black parts from a CX bike and the only silver
left are the brakes (because the CX had canti)
Now you've got me thinking......
btw, that fade is what they called Anasazi blue over pacific blue.
Thanks for making me think about it. Lets see... new wheels, new group
new bars, tape, post, stem. How much could that cost?

You owe it to the economy to go for it.

My Meivici. The frame was purchased from a forumite in England a few years ago, now upgraded to SR 11.

A wonderful ride.

In thinking about the current Serotta matter, it reminds me of how close Ferrari came to going out of business, until Fiat came to his rescue. Where would the art of the automobile be had that occurred back in the 70's. It is too bad that a larger bike company didn't see the opportunity to bring Serotta into the fold without squashing Ben's design vision, and yet offering the production gains and scale needed to keep things afloat.

Time will tell.
