A good week for it. Short route, rolling, mostly a tailwind. One hot, long day early on, plus the obligatory severe thunderstorm... Once the temps dropped it was a very pleasant week.

In 15 RAGBRAIs (16?) this year was the second easiest I've done. After my first, the easiest I've done, my veteran friend told me "You haven't done RAGBRAI. (Until it's 100*F in the shade... pouring rain every night... gusting headwind so hard you have to pedal down hill...)"

Ragbrai is our 'guys trip' for my buddies from MD, MI, AR. We're the "Wild Hogs"!

I've done it once so far. My oldest son twice. My nephew three times. My dad eight I think.
Pretty sure I'm in for next year. It is a blast!

I rode out to the start from near Madison, WI then did some extra each day so total mileage for twelve days was 948. Two centuries but most days in the 80-90 mile range.

As has been the case for the last 7 years, the weather on the ride out was worse than on RAGBRAI. Heat index of over 100 for the first four days of the ride out. First couple of days of RAGBRAI were warm but then cooled nicely.

Had a great time, always do.

OK, here's my only RAGBRAI related joke:

If you see a group of people on RAGBRAI wearing matching kit:

If they're at the front, they race on the same team.
If they're in the middle, they belong to the same cycling club.
If they're at the back, they drink at the same bar :D

Like most jokes, funny because it's true.
