cleaning mesh in leather shoes

I have a great pair of the 2012 Fizik R1s in white discussed in the classifieds thread. Most of the shoe is white kangaroo, but the tongues are white mesh. After several rides caught in the rain the mesh is more grey than white.

A Mr. Clean Magic Eraser has been great on keeping the leather sections clean. What's been successful for you in cleaning the mesh on shoes? Don't want to screw up the finish on the leather itself...
