Got those (http://www.flickr.com/photos/15917738@N02/sets/72157634802651685/) from a guy that wasn't sure either but he thought they were Athena. There is no part number anywhere, all I know is that they are 8 speed.
Also, I know some Ergos have a cover that would go in front of the thumb shifter wheel to cover the front of the housing; is this missing? It doesn't really look like there is a groove or slot for it though.

Thanks in advance!

8 speed Veloce, I believe. Plastic lever means it's below Athena.

I agree. I had those on a Bianchi Mondiale way, way back.

Circa 1993 Veloce is my best guess. Athena had an alloy paddle.

I think 1993 and 1994 Veloce were both painted. I have a pair of painted Veloce.

Athena had polished brake blades and plastic paddle in 1994. The brake blades have the same part number as Chorus and Record - only the Athena body and hood have different part numbers (the paddle evidently comes with the body). In 1993 the levers included with Athena groups were Record - only Veloce was different.

I vote 1994 Athena.

The guts are all Record in any case.

Thanks oldpotatoe. Where would that cap go? Cover the thumb shifter wheel?

1994 Veloce: painted brake blade

1995 Veloce and Mirage: Had respective group name on body above lever; Veloce had slots in brake blades and was painted

1996 Veloce and Mirage:Had group nams on body above lever: Veloce had slots in brake blades and was polished

The part you need is EC-RE024

Here's the Athena Ergo parts page from the 1994 catalog:

Thanks oliver1850, that's exactly what I was looking for...
Did some search but looks like it's pretty much out of stock everywhere. Found one store in Berlin that was recommended on some German biking forums.
Will give that one a try.

Cheers

Here's a couple of pics showing a 1994-1997 8/9 speed cap on the left, and a 1998 up Record/Chorus 9/10 on the right. Notice the raised ring around the circumference of the bottom half of the 8 speed cap (more visible in the lower pic), and that the ears are symmetrical. Also notice that the contact area for the handlebar is different. The 8 speed one is PN EC-RE024 shown in the parts diagram above. I believe the 1993 Veloce part #7136115 is the same part under the old numbering system. 1993 Veloce was the first group to use the plastic bodies, all other 1993 groups used metal bodied Record Ergos (which have no dust caps). The EC-RE024 part was also used on 1997 Record and Chorus 9.

The 9/10 speed cap is PN EC-RE124 (right) or EC-RE059 (left) and was still used on all groups except Xenon (and 1999 Avanti) through 2006. The part numbers changed again in 2007 with Record/Chorus getting one and the rest of the groups another.

These pics show the 1998 Athena/Veloce/Mirage/Avanti cap (right EC-AT024, left EC-AT059) on the left, compared to the same 1998 up Record/Chorus shown above. Notice the Athena part has the same ring around the bottom as the earlier 8 speed part, but now has asymmetrical ears and is side specific. If you file the ear down so it will fit in the earlier bodies it will work fine. The Record one won't work so well, as the notch for the hood is in a different place, and the contour where the handlebar contacts it is different as well.
