Saw this index gear on ebay and it got me to wondering about Sachs 9, which I was never aware existed:

I think the same 8 speed New Success rear derailleur was still being sold around 2000, so I don't think that changed. Wondering what cogs might have been used. Seems like Campagnolo would be the obvious answer, but I've never seen a Sachs 9 cassette hub, or any with Campagnolo splines for that matter.

Has anyone ever seen Sachs Ergo 9 speed? Any shop guys with a 1998-2000 catalog? I have the 1997 and there's no mention of 9 speed.

Sachs Ergo is same as Campy. I have a friend who had Sachs 8 speed upgraded to 9 speed and he said they used Campy internals. I don't think they can be changed over to 10 sp though, but not positive about that.

Same lever as Campagnolo thru 1997 design. Convertible to 9s(but Campag 9s shift disc..needs a Campagnolo RD). Don't think Sachs was ever 9s..
