I have (what i think is) a sweet offer from my local shop here for a NOS 10sp veloce group from 09. I remember having veloce 9sp group which I LOVED and shifted perfectly. Does anyone have any experience with this 10sp version? thoughts? Is this the group which only does one downshift at a time?

Group looks like this

I'm considering buy NOS for $400 + tax. I thought that was pretty much as good as a price as I could find on a new group anywhere.

The 2009 and 1010 10 speed Veloce and Centaur were Ultra Shift. They will dump the gears. Shifters have prety much same guts as Chorus and Record of those years. Some say they have a "soft" click when changing a gear, but my son has them (Silver lever Centaurs), I've shifted his.....no big deal. They shift fine.

You get the gear dump, and new hood shape, which I have an unhealthy love for.

I did migrate to 11 speed Chorus, however, because of the soft click, particularly on the finger lever. Too spongy for my taste, but it was more a feel than function thing.

Only downside, IMHO, is the stamped (instead of forged) chainrings.

X2

Skeleton brakes, ultra torque, and ultra shift are all great.

I've got the crank, shifters and brakes. Can't beat 'em, especially at that price. Crank looks better in the flesh...
