View Full Version : Low Profile Road Helmets

I am looking for some advice on some road helmets that when worn have a low profile and do not make me look like I have a mushroom on my head. My current helmet is a Specialized Prevail and while it is supremely comfortable, it looks gigantic on my head. Asking for a helmet that is both low profile and comfortable, I hope, is not asking too much.

I do realize that this is an exercise in my blossoming vanity, yet, any guidance will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

What's wrong with this?

Check out the Mavic Plasma SLR. Competitive Cyclist has them on sale for 50% off right now.

Another one is the Rudy Project Windmax. It's the same helmet as Peter Sagan is wearing in the TDF.

I'm pretty happy with Lazer Genesis...the design has been around a long time and is still popular, probably for the very reason you're pointing out.

Bell Volt/Sweep are not too mushroom-y

Head shape has a lot to do with fit atmo.

Bell was team issue this year. It fits surprisingly well considering I'm normally a good fit with Giro.

I just got the Louis garneau course helmet and it is pretty low pro. I also have a kask k50 that sits pretty low. I use my prevail when I want to wear a hat underneath but that might also be because I got the wrong size.

Uvex

They have the ability to adjust the depth so it can sit further down on your noggin.

Bell Sweep and Volt not bad but Uvex fit me better than any other because of this feature.

I like the rudy project windmax... If you're looking to purchase online, I suggest to go to your lbs and try them on first, they all fit different.
