Happy 4th of July - a day to celebrate our freedoms and living in the greatest country in the world!

Of course, it comes with the sacrifice of exposure to a barrage of US media and its commercial ads ;)

On the NBC TdF coverage front, here's IMHO "like" and "dislike list". Im sure Ive missed a few as I usually go to "mute" or leave the room but these are the ones that come to mind:

Like (find amusing, elicits a chuckle):

-Guy guarding his wheat thins
-Barclays Premiere event w/ opera music
-Despicable Me trailer bytes

Dislike (feels like nails on chalkboard or makes you go "huh?"):

-Michelob Lite with the Peter Brady-looking-golf caddy-volleyball-guy and jingle
-Southern Comfort -guy getting a hair shampoo
-Chocolate milk workout
-Cadillac ATS driving thru dark tunnel roads
-TdF stationary trainer

Hated the douchey Michelob ad last year. Hate it even more that they brought it back again and are doubling down on thinking that it will connect with people.

Note to InBev-AB: it makes me hate your product even more.

I love how the mich-ultra guy is loved by everyone for "telling good jokes".

I've yet to see anyone actually drink that (so-called) beer.

Love them or hate them, you're talking about them. Thinking about them. The advertisers did their job. And the effect ads have on you is more subliminal than you know.

what commercials...?

DVR with fast forward on 4X speed takes care of those annoying things.

It's the way to go. I run my laptop through my TV, get to see the entire stage is I wish or skip to just the parts that interest me. Available any time, so I watch on my schedule and no commercials.

One of the better $30 I've ever spent.

I like most of the commercials I've seen. However, I'm watching the EuroSport live feed on the computer at 6:30 or 7:00 am. Some of the European commercials are hilarious.

Really? I love that one. I think just cause it's basically saying screw whatever it looks like... do what feels good. So he's enjoying his long hair being washed and he's all chill and relaxing and having his do what feels comfortable drink and having his SC. I think I like it cause it gets to my "dont care what others think" mojo lol

Ditto. The boots are a nice touch.

By the end of the tour you will have seen them all so many times that you will hate all of them.

trust me, the commercials on the Eurosport live stream aren't much better. one exception is the Skoda one they've run a couple years (http://youtu.be/cNunotJ14o8)

Two of my favorite Eurosport commercials are the ones for Monaco and the Tour of Azerbaijan, although that's probably more to do with the catchy music than anything else.

The worst Eurosport one I've seen is for Sidi shoes.

Since I don't focus on commercials or products, I am finding coverage of this tour arguably the best one yet to watch. NBC deserves a pat on the back for this coverage. As mentioned in another thread, the landscape shots from the helicopter provide such a good perspective of the area. The Corisca stages in particular were delightful to watch. The commentary....well its commentary. Sometimes its better than other times. No big deal.

The Michelob commercials are so amazingly douchy that I have even wondered if they are supposed to be that way just so we will talk about them. But I really don't think that's it. I believe most people who drink lots of cheap beer are so self-deluded that think they are active, attractive and always the life of the party. Nice job AB... You nailed it.
