Antonio is a good guy and a great racer. For a lot of Foundation riders, English is their second language. Give it a rest. I hope he finds his bike.

beeatnik, that's totally uncalled for and really classless.

i know a couple of foundation riders and they're really good guys.

this situation is really unfortunate for the rider. i don't know him personally, but some of the fast local riders are bike shop guys (mechanics, etc), obviously not rolling in dough, and may have a big chunk of their money tied up in a nice bike.

Instead of offering a $1000 reward, Antonio Munoz should invest the money on an English tutor or an Intro English class at the local JC. Interestingly enough, he did spell "black guy" correctly.

Why would you leave a bike like that leaned against a wall in NYC? Seems rather stupid.

beeatnik i dunno what your agenda is, but this ain't the forum for it.

this is about a stolen bike heads-up for many of us local to the nyc area.

as to leaning such a nice bike against a wall unattended for, however brief, well that's just not too smart. hard to tell if it was locked or not, and the post in nyvc made no mention of that.

Did not appear to be locked up in the video.

The description states the thief actually locked his own bike up before taking the LOOK.

It was locked up.

... it sure doesn't LOOK like it was locked. The guy walks up, grabs the bike, and takes off. Not even a micro-second spent breaking the lock.

It appears the thief is smarter than the owner... I live in a relatively safe city and would never leave my much less expensive bike out in the open unlocked...

Mis-read the post. Thief locked HIS bike, then lifted the LOOK.

I hope this dude finds his bike.

I live in NYC, I was just at one my LBS and a girl showed up with a crappy bike and the thieve stole everything but her wheels and frame. They took breaks, break cables even the headset. We are talking about a $400 olive green fixie.

Lets be honest, you can't lock an expensive bike out in NYC, doesn't matter if its the light of day or a fancy neighborhood. It really does not matter, thieves here don't care. Let alone not lock it. How long have you lived here?

What I was told when I moved here was, if you don't want it stolen in NYC, don't lock it outside.

That said, we all do stupid things and at the end of the day, that guy should have not stolen this guys bike (and all the other hundreds of bikes he has stolen)

Okay guys, 54ny77 was simply trying to pass on some information about a stolen bike in an effort to help out the owner. He didn't edit the owner's post, just copied and pasted the information. We don't need all of these comments regarding about the grammar of the owner.

Please remember one of the rules of the forum...
• The Golden Rule: “Don’t be a jerk.”

Does a PSA really need any comments?

Perhaps with the recent introduction of the NYC bike share program, he was confused and mistook the 595 for a Citibike.

That was sad to watch. Man, that was just too easy, in a town like this an action like that so divorced from the reality and speed of what goes down here, just too bad and a rude awakening.

I feel like there is a backstory to this thread, since expurgated. Oh well.

That is one of my teammates, for the record. So sometimes these things can strike close to home.

Ive been guilty to leave a few expensive bikes like that when just "popping in and out" of some place but ive been lucky and i dont live in NYC. Only do it when im really stressed but it only makes me more stressed.. Cant think of anything else but the bike for those short moments till i reunite with the bike.

Every now and then some friend who recognize it hides it around the corner only to laugh at me looking like an idiot trying to figure out which way the thief went when i discover its "gone"

Hope he gets it back!

Maybe we can use one of Happycampers bikes as bait and set up a sting in NYC. I am sure we can get some of the regulars on the Gimbel's ride to lend some muscle. We can do a re-edit of the popular 'Don't steal bikes Bro!' youtube of the 3 NYC Messengers dishing out street justice on a bike thief.

I hope the dude gets his bike back. Did they get the bike he left and check for finger prints?

A Di2-equipped rental?

I think that's called a GoldmanSachsycle.

;)

Etienne: good luck to your teammate in his bike's return.

Well said. Bike was not a grocery getter. Hope it's found!

I miss those 6:00 a.m. CRCA Saturday morning races..

Hopefully they will.

Word to the wise, internet! Don't go looking for it and get all e-justice on this - that would probably just scare the seller/thief off.
