i purchased the 'Campagnolo SR EPS Front Derailleur Braze-On' unit for my eps setup.

my frame does not have any braze-on attachment, and ask what i need to clamp this unit onto my bike?

is any 'clamp-on' attachment ok or is there a special clamp on piece i need?

recommended brands in carbon?

thanks firerescuefin

why do you like these clamps over all other clamps?

does it matter if i have the 'braze-on' model eps unit and not have a brazed-on attachment onto my carbon frame?

how does my eps unit fasten onto this clamp-on?

Apparently Campy does make an EPS specific part: http://www.biketiresdirect.com/product/campagnolo-front-eps-derailleur-clamp-adapter

Don't know squat about this other than what I've seen on the internet.

Splash...if your bike is carbon.....I'd go with the Parlee...hands down. It's a very strong/stiff clamp that is very easy on your carbon frame.

If your bike is metal..the EPS clamp shown (which really isn't much different than any braze on clamp) will suffice.

yes, my bike is carbon - bianchi oltre xr.

i am just confused at how my braze-on eps unit fits onto these clamps...?

i have a 13mm threaded stud coming out of this unit - and that's it.

i have no issues buying that parlee item but i need to know if it will accomodate my braze-on eps unit,....

??

i notice on the other 2 recommended clamps have a second bolt hole whereas the parlee clamp only has the single bolt hole.

these links show clamp-ons for the eps braze unit:

EPS will work with that clamp, I've seen about 4 bikes utilizing it (EPS & Parlee clamp)...If it makes you feel better (no sarcasm intended), call Parlee monday morning. A real person answers on the first or second ring.

you clamp the parlee unit around your seat tube and then you clamp your derailleur to the parlee unit just as if the parlee unit was a braze-on fitting.

thanks guys.

just remembering that the eps braze-on front derailleur has a flat portion where it is designed to hug a flat brazed on tab in the seat tube with a dedicated stud to mount on a clamp that is already fastened onto the seat tube - and not a standard clamp-on unit with only a single stud.

i have emailed parlee on this query and will get their take on it.

Splash...viewing this question and the other one you have out there regarding brake setup (both pretty rudimentary questions)...I would have a GOOD local bike shop set this stuff up for you. The bike and equipment you're talking about is high end (not sure I would want to "learn" on it)....Once you are more comfortable, and have established more of a knowledge base, I have no doubt you could/should/would be able to take it on.

Just my opinion...sounds like a VERY nice ride.

If no brazeon onto your frame, you need to measure the seat tube outside diameter and get the Campagnolo clamp adapter for that diameter. I would stay away from a carbon one, the aluminum ones are stiffer, something you need for EPS.

Peter my experience with the parlee adapter is that it is plenty stiff..have you had a different experienceQ

Never used one with EPS.

My experience is with other, admittedly mounted onto a frame, carbon braze on tabs and they are really flexy. I donno, if the guy is messing with EPS, why not use the EPS Campagnolo clamp adapter. It's not like it's really heavy or anything , and it's a purpose designed unit, the Campagnolo one.

I tried the parlee with my eps setup and the shifting was sloppier than with the parlee clamp. It may have just been my imagination or paranoia, but I ended up taking it off and shifting returned to normal. I love the parlee clamps and have them on all my bikes without braze ons including cross.

I dont have a standard campy clamp in the house but the tab for mounting the fd is thicker and a slightly different shape than the standard one
