Took a 40 this AM and felt as if I was in the world's largest hair drier.

For the Euro/Aussie/everybody else out there...that's approaching 50C.

110 here today. There's a huge high pressure ridge camped over the Valley, and it's not going away for at least five days, so I decided that I needed to suck it up and get on the bike. I rode at 6:30 and, because of the truly craptacular wind, it felt like I was trapped a convection oven. That said, I agree that it's a heckuva lot better than riding when it's humid.

out at 9:30, 30 miles 3000 feet of single track climbing with temps right at a buck 2. Furnace Creek training is always fun.

Forty miles this morning, 86 degrees at 4:30, 103.4 degrees a couple of hours later.
113 on my shaded front porch right now.

At least the sunrise was sweet.

Yikes, the high 80s in the Asheville area is the new hot for me, and if that is too bad I just climb up Mt Mitchell where it drops to the mid 60s! Not missing Ohio Valley humidity at all.

We've got plenty to spare in Charlotte. Was like riding through soup this morning.

It was mid- to high 80s in the East Bay today. People were complaining. It felt positively balmy to me.

Riding in really hot weather is not that hard. You need to ride smart. Nothing more. Just go out and go at 80% of your normal effort. Also don't whine along the way. Rock on!

30 miles on the Blacksheep tomorrow. Expected high of 105 in the canyon. Love it!

Send some of that trash to us in the Northeast. Haven't had this much rain since Noah built a canoe, and not too warm either.

Its funny because its so mellow weather wise in the bay area that if anything below 50 or above 80 comes a long they make a big deal on the news. There is a Excessive Heat Warning in effect through tuesday with temperatures in the mid 80's ! I mean thats a little hotter than i'd like to be riding in but great for swimming or sumer BBQ. I feel bad for all you guys in the 100's! Now that is excessive heat!:help:

** edit: Tuesday may reach 91. Okay that is a little hot!

80% of my normal effort is a nap, Jack. Which, come to think of it, sounds like a good idea in this kind of heat.

Here in FL 95F with 95% humidity is a typical summer day. Not sure which is worse having only experienced this side of it. At least your sweat evaporates in that dry heat, right?

Fair enough Lewis, that's stinkin' hot.

Anyone who has never ridden in high temperatures would do well to consider tarmac temperatures are going to be above 75ºC and the tar will be squishy and remember to adjust their tyre pressures too.

Unseasonably cool here in Israel...I have never needed a jacket at dinner in the summer, dating back to 1969, but the last 2 nights we've been chilled. It should be at least 90 degrees every day, but it's been in the low 80's.
We were at the lowest nature reserve on Earth today, as well as in the Judean Desert....very comfortable. Normally the temps would been 100-105. Again 80's.

I actually miss the heat.

Mid 80's heat, and 80's humidity here this early AM. Normal. Used to sweating in summer. I stuff a thin wet cool rag in helmet and use arm coolers (wet).
