I have a Tommasini frame coming to me but not quite sure if its a prestige or super prestige.

It has internal cable routing and its Columbus SLX tubing.

Also I need suggestions for somebody good and restoring frames. (Paint chrome stickers etc)

I know they are nicer frames but are they the level of Colnago, De Rosa etc?

Educate me as to whats coming my way. I do know I need to get a fork for the frame. Any suggestions on that?

As far as restoration goes, CyclArt in Vista, California is top notch. I've seen very degenerated/rusted bikes brought back from the dead. And just normal wear and tear bikes come back better than they left the factory. They seem to do everything correctly as far as repairs and refinishes go. If they don't have the graphics they make them. They have seen and worked on just about everything from the turn of the 20th century to today.
BUT, they are expensive and they are slow. Want it right and not in hurry? CyclArt is for you.
And no, I have no affiliation with them. Just have seen (and been the unbuild-rebuild labor for about a dozen of) their works over the years.

I have a Sintesi and a Super Prestige.

Yes, they are good looking bicycles.

But, they are really fantastic performers.

If it were me, I would contact Barb at Tommasini for a quote.

Shipping might be spendy, but I have owned one of their refinished Sintesis and it was spot on.

Would you expect any less?

Btw Sounds like you have a Super Prestige. If you would like, I'll post a pic of mine.

I take it they would know the original paint etc.
Please do post pics. I will post pictures of my frame once it comes in.

Here is a pic from last winter after Thirdgenbird (Casey) finished this super build for me.

We did a collaboration project on another forum and it was a blast.

I've tweaked the fit since the pic, but it's ballpark.

The nice thing about Tommasini painting the frameset is access to their thought process.

Just something to think about for you.

They do amazing work. In fact, I rode with a friend tonight who had a trek madrone redone by them in custom livery and I can say it is the only trek that I have ever liked the look of.

Oh yeah, if you keep the work in the U.S. you owe it to yourself to give Chris Kvale a call.

I have three of his bicycles and the paint quality is top shelf.

....and that is an understatement.

Thanks for the finishers guys, eventually I will want to get the Serotta repainted eventually as well. I will probaby keep the paint domestic due to cost but I will contact Tommasini and get a ball park on pricing.

This bike will take a while to build between the cost of refinishing and deciding what parts to go with. I hope its sooner than later, we will just have to see.

The frame is scheduled to be here mid next week. I will post pics once it comes in. I would like to find an original fork but not sure how likely that is to be.

Cyclart, Chris Kvale and Tommasini will not be inexpensive.

Tommasini "Air" forks are on ebay from time to time.

Post a pic or two when you receive the frame!

I would rather save and take longer and have the refinishing done properly. I know that Velo Colour ball park is ~$600. I would imagine the other being around that. Like I said itl be a long build but worth it in the end.

I am also a Tommasini owner. I strongly recommend you contact Barbara at Tommasini. She is very helpful and very responsive. They can refinish the frame for you and set you up with a new Air fork. It is the best way to go IMO. I have been to the factory and I have met Barbara and Signore Irio Tommasini. They are all very wonderful people. They will know exactly how to refinish it and you will have options on how you want to refinish it...original design or pick a new design. Go to the .it website and click on "customize your product" and you can select designs and colors.

It may cost you a tad more in shipping, but sending it to the factory where it was born is the right way to go about it. Their work is amazing. You will be glad it went "home" to get reborn! Enjoy the bike. They are wonderful to ride and look at!

Yes, this is the way I would do it.

In fact, I have a beautiful Sintesi frameset that has a crack developing in the chainstay.

It is really a shame.

I will likely save up, have Tommasini replace the stay and do a refinish.

I keep playing with the "customize" feature on their site. I have a new scheme chosen and I even have an extra Chorus gruppo just sitting here.

Maybe I'll just bite the bullet and get this rolling.

Looking at their site it doenst have the color that I want but I will ask about it. I am going to wait to contact them when I get the frame so that I can link to some pictures of it as well etc.

I was looking on their site under accessories and I need to get a stem from them as well. This isnt going to be cheap.

Got the frame in. It needs repainting for sure, thinking white to pink fade. Just need to get fast.

The white part is rattle can so no sticker as to if it was a Super Prestige or just a Prestige. Per the responses here I guess its a Super Prestige.

Haven't used him myself, but if you opt to keep this state side, Alan Wanta has done some phenomenal refinishes.

Another forum member suggested him as well. I did find Bing Cycles in Richmond VA and he does resprays as well. From what I have seen its good work and hes an hour up the road.

Side note he does frame building classes......might have to build me a frame.

I will probably end up ordering decals from CycleMondo.
