I've recently become a Merckx convert and would love to see what you got.
Picked up my first Merckx a Corsa Extra last month, the frame was well used and needed some tlc to bring back some shine but boy does it ride great. Will soon be receiving an MX-L, another that was on my bucket list.

This thread needs more ti. Not the most beautiful Merckx out there by far, nor with the cred of a Corsa Extra or MXL, but definitely a nice-riding Merckx. Replaced the original orange-yellow decals with a few from the 7-Eleven decal set. Also has a 15mm ti headtube extension crafted by Ti Fabrications of Portland, OR.

Fit these days seems to be Merckx-fit (duh) or almost French-fit, based on CompCyc standards...

Beautiful! Very unusual color and decals. . .

1985. I was in the position then to buy any bike I wanted (which position I've been in only a few times since). I bought a weird, unheard-of thing called a Fat Chance, put smooth tires on it, and rode all over western Canada for 7 weeks that summer. . . but look what I could have bought, if I'd even known there were Eddy Merckx bikes at the time.

Took me 'til last winter to get a Corsa Extra. Worth the wait? Yep.

Charles, top of the line can be very subjective with Merckx frames. Some like the shaped tubing of the MXL, others feel it is too stiff a ride. Some prefer the classic geometry of the Corsa Extra in SLX, others the SL tubed Corsa.

To be honest, I like 'em all. Recently acquired #6 and 7, a 753 Professional and a TSX Century. Suspect they will be as solid and reliable as the others.

Had this Corsa Extra for a few years. Didn't get ridden enough, so ended up selling it when I got something else ("no net frame gain" household rule...).

It didn't have the Century geometry from what I could tell. Would be interested in trying another one with that geometry to see what that's like. It was a very pretty bike, though.

Certainly, the SLX tubing was stiff enough - can't imagine what an MXL would feel like.

Campy Record 9S, Thompson seatpost and stem, American Classic CR-420 wheels (or at least they were until the rear rim was fatally dented). Rear rim was totaled the first time I rode on these wheels, now it's a Kinlin XR-380 relaced with Sapim Race and Laser spokes. I also have some Record hubs laced to FiR Zenith rims (a lot like Open Pros), just relaced 2x with Lasers and alloy nipples in front and 3x/1x with Race/Laser combo in back. I am torn on the rims, really wish I had a wheelset with nice hubs and the new wide rims instead of either of these. The red seat and tires are perhaps a bit much, but I already had them left over from a bike I never built up...
