Tony Soprano is gone.

My wife and I for the most part stopped watching episodal TV when "The Sopranos" went black. Nothing else filled the bill and hasn't since.

Bummer. I hope that his loss at least gets some "Big guys" to start taking better care of themselves.

Heart attack at only 51 years old. Certainly not the way Tony Soprano should go out. Always one of my favorites.

Wow. One of my favorite actors and I really liked his documentary work. 51 is too young.... :(

The Pope gets a new Harley, but who from the FB Collective offered J.G. a custom bike? Colnago always did well with celebrity schwag..

Yes, agreed. 51 is very young and hopefully everyone out there, big and not so big, take good or better care of themselves.

First thought that came to my mind was a blood clot in a leg from the air flight to Italy. He had a history of cocaine and alcohol abuse for years and years. He liked to shop in farmacies (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2286143/James-Gandolfini-high-spirits-visits-medical-marijuana-shop.html) too.

Sad. Fifty-one.:o

I never saw a single episode of The Sopranos - but it had a strong following from what is gathered.

Great actor with surprising range. Much more than a big guy heavy. He will be missed. Weird to think he was three days younger than me.

If you haven't seen it already, rent Killing Them Softly. JG does a mesmerizing job of a hitman in the downward spiral of his career.

I thought he was awesome with Julia Roberts in The Mexican

And a very believable Secretary of Defense in "Zero Dark Thirty".

He looked really big in Zero Dark Thirty. Had gained a lot since Tony Soprano days, and he wasn't trim then either.

He's one of those guys who looked like he was an average 50 year old when he was 35.

There was never going to be a Sopranos movie, because Tony dies in the last episode (http://masterofsopranos.wordpress.com/the-sopranos-definitive-explanation-of-the-end/) of the show.

I hadn't seen this before. It makes a pretty good argument. Thanks for the link.

An impressive analysis, and one that certainly convinced me.

I'm surprised nobody said anything about spoilers... ;-)

Never saw Sopranos but it's sad to see anyone die so young. It's hard to figure out why so many famous actors don't take better care of themselves; as if fame can somehow protect them from risky behavior. Or maybe they just don't care about dying young. Wonder if it's because some of these guys live more in ten years than average people in a lifetime. RIP.
