The girls (our dog and the GF) and I went out on the trails both days this weekend. I even squeezed in a road ride yesterday too!

Our whippet/lab loves to run with my bike in the woods, except she tries to pass me and more often than not gets a shoe ratchet strap or heel to the neck/nose since I'm pedaling. She also loves to lay down in puddles and drink from them simultaneously.

(Edit) In the first pic you can see the Santa Cruz Blur that my gf bought though this forum. Love this place.

46mi, usual boring north shore route. on my way back, came upon a pack that had a few riders get tangled up and go down some time before my arrival. one ambulance - possible dislocated or broken elbow.

bummer

Did 32 miles solo Saturday, south through Grand Haven and along the coast of Lake Michigan. Did 40 miles today with a friend on mostly the same route as yesterday. Pretty casual pace but great to get out and enjoy some nice Michigan weather and an ocassional view of Lake Michigan.

7 hours on the single track this weekend on the sheep/Firefly. Got me a six pack of Undercover Pale Ale for later with some friends.

No pictures, but got out for 18 yesterday (wasn't feeling good) and 38 today. That's a great weekend of cycling for me. If the weather holds up half decent I'll commute to work tomorrow and finish the 3 days with a tick under 100 miles.

. . . with friend Steve in Saratoga from his place and did 53, north and over West Mountain to Sacandaga Lake and then back through Hadley, Lake Luzerne, and Corinth.

Then today did 34 with my bud Kevin up into Clifton Park. Slwoer ride, more social. No pics from either ride. I just enjoyed the days.

The road up to Sunrise is closed to car traffic on Saturday. We had the place to ourselves on the way up. Met only a few cyclists on the way down. This is a bit rough - my point n shoot mounted on the handlebar. A short vid of our approach to Sunrise after a 9 mile climb.

Still dodging storms here in the Minneapolis area. This got old a long, long time ago.

~78 miles from my house in Garner NC. Rode to Clayton, got on the new amazing neuse river greenway there, rode it for ~32 miles to the dam at Falls Lake, took a crappy cellphone pic of my merckx at the dam's spillway:

~50 miles to the dam that way. ~28 miles home through town (raleigh).
Almost cramped at mile ~60, gotta figure out how to prevent that.

My wife and I visited her grandparents in Louisiana and did a short 22 miles along Cross Lake. I've ridden in the area before but never by the lake. I was pleasantly surprised, it's a pretty decent spot, at least for Shreveport.

Saturday was a five star day here in northwestern Vermont. Wife and I did a favorite, the Ap Gap loop, huntington to Richmond to Waterbury to Waitsfield and up and over and back to start. It's about 48 miles with some nice climbing. So pleased to still be doing it!

I hate driving to a start point, but on Saturday I drove the 90 miles to Marion, NC to climb Mt. Mitchell. (highest peak in the eastern US)

Starts at around 1,300' elevation with a few miles of rollers. Weather was perfect- sunny, 60's to start.

https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/179731_10151983790569325_662076976_n.jpg

After a nice warmup on the rollers, the pitch kicks up a bit- 5.5 miles of 6% along a mountain stream. Lots of curves and switchbacks bring you up to the Blue Ridge Parkway.

https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn2/988543_10151983796084325_1834464741_n.jpg

There's another 5.5 miles of 5% along the Parkway...then 2 miles of descent...followed by another 8 miles of 5% up to the peak, 6,600'.

https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/1005586_10151983800329325_217726515_n.jpg

It's only 60 miles round trip from Marion, so I tacked on some extra miles on the Parkway to get to 100. I was taking pictures whilst riding, some stopped motorcyclists noticed and decided to pose-

https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/196614_10151983806869325_877558523_n.jpg

Overall, probably the most fun I've had on a bike. 100 miles, 11k of elevation gain. Strava link- http://app.strava.com/activities/60570538

Quite tired today, so I went out for a couple of hours at a recovery pace.

My thread contribution is lacking photos. Sorry. Yesterday was a very solid 56 miles throughout Cape Ann (north shore) into Merrimack valley. Weekend total was 115.

The last spur road from the parkway to the summit sure seems steeper than 5%! I remember an out of saddle experience for part of it, partly due to my inadaquate gearing then (39/26). I'm considering Mt. Mitchell from asheville and back later this month...

Yeah, I saw a lot of 7%-9% on my Garmin, Strava is telling me it averaged 5%...I guess because of the few bits of 1%-2% that went by too quickly. Lol.

meh, I need to work less, ride more and do some intervals.

Started an "A" club ride Saturday.......I knew I wasn't going to be able to hang so dropped off and rode solo, goofing around, did some tempo riding but most importantly enjoyed the great weather and countryside. Non stop 54 miles.

Tandem ride yesterday, 30 odd miles. Found ourselves riding in a bike shop group ride for a bit. Too slow when we were off the back and no surprise, when we went to the front, all the kids enjoyed our draft.

Ah well, I did say I needed some interval work.

Saturday: The Terrible Two double century. Strava says 204 miles and 20,054' of elevation gain, though I think Strava exaggerates. All the gory statistical details here: http://app.strava.com/activities/60615833.

Sunday: Two-hour nap at recovery pace.

...how did your iPhone battery last that long?

I bought the expensive Mophie juice pack (http://www.mophie.com/juice-pack-PRO-Rugged-case-for-iPhone-4-4S-p/2120_jppr-ip4-blk.htm). It's supposed to provide additional 150% of battery life. I turned it on at the start and ran Strava the entire ride, sent about a dozen text messages along the way, but kept all the other apps shut down. After 15.5 hours I still had 36% of battery life left. It's bulkier than necessary, due to built in ruggedness, but it definitely did the trick. I'm very happy.

Rode on club rides Saturday and Sunday. Went to a Kelly Bedford appreciation party Saturday afternoon. Cool bikes and they even had a food truck there! Got to talk with Kelly.

My wife had a total hip replacement two months ago. Spent the last three days riding about 70 miles with her. Shr's not quite up to 100% yet but it's sure nice having my riding partner back!

Had a beautiful day with my lady, spinning the gears, gawking at her fine form all pro and lovely on the bike, drooling over the scenery and dodging deer flies for all I was worth. Did 50 miles with some little climbs and lots of rollers. Gorgeous day. Lots of wind, some of it even helpful. Loved my bike. Left my lady to head home so she could hammer on without waiting for me. Life was perfect.
