I'm heading to Michigan later this week, and I will be near to the velodrome in Bloomer Park. Has anyone been there? I'd like to swing by there mid-day and I would rather not join an event or 101 training class, which I suspect are often occurred in the evening. Is it possible for me to just swing by and spin around it a bit on my fixed gear, mid-day? If not, I will happily attend there Saturday seminar. Thanks for any thoughts.

I go there regularly to watch races on Friday nights in the summer. Unfortunately, I think that you may be out of luck until Sunday, June 15. It looks like there is track work going on.

Darn, the 15th is my day to leave Michigan and head back to NY. I appreciate you letting me know.

From the Yahoo group, it looks like the repairs and resurfacing are finished. They'll have riding this Thursday eve and perhaps you could convince them to let you on being from out of town and all. It's a pretty cool venue.

IVBP News: Another good day with great volunteers. We plan on having our first riders on the track next THURSDAY NIGHT - 6:30 - 8:30pm. But only riders who have volunteered during our new track construction can ride on thursday night. So if you have not helped yet - YOU CAN on monday and wednesday with Bruce or tuesday with Ed and Dave. We have a old panels and wood scraps that need to be removed from the infield because next saturday the IVBP will host the Michigan Vintage Bike Show & Swap - 8am - 2pm then open riding!

Used to live nearby and go there for Friday night races - very laid back atmosphere and always a good time. Sounds like you can get on the track Saturday afternoon. Let us know how it goes.
