Yes, he and his older sister have skills. Computer skills. Be prepared to see much more of it from many other kids as time goes on and they are born into this digital world and "can't take a bad image if you try, cameras".

Not taking anything away from it. Just calling it like it is.

PP skills for sure. But the imagination to come up with these images is fantastic.

Talent and artistic vision.
A few people just have it.
It doesn't matter which era or which tools are available.
That kind of ability just shines through and always will.
fantastic.

Quite good for a person of this age group and it remains to be seen how the artistic eye develops in conjunction with the skill at computers. There is no expectation that a 14 year old will construct photos like a Jerry Uelsmann composition, but in fairness, with a computer, Uelsmann-like complexity is no longer a challenge and also not the point of these photos.

For now, these photos are a macro photography superimposed surrealism, somewhat derivative of Escher and pleasantly whimsical.

. . . and this young man obviously has some great ones. I would wager he didn't shoot the overall photos, but in this case so what if he didn't.

Whether he will be able to use his talent to actually make a living is another question entirely. In an age when ubiquitous automatic devices make everybody an "image maker" the value of good photography to make a living with has gone almost to zero. The Sun-Times in Chicago just laid off their entire photography staff--28 people including a Pulitzer Prize winner. They're going to have reporters shoot video and stills with their iPhones. Yep, they'll win another Pulitzer doing that.

Great ideas and artistic talent don't count for nearly as much as they did. Good luck, Kid . . .
