Question on Shimming a seat post

I just purchased a old mint steel Bill Holland bike the seat post is 27.2 i have a chance to purchase a NOS Dura Ace 7400 Fluted post that is 26.4 could a shim work correctly so it wouldnt fail or do i stick with the correct 27.2mm post

You could shim it but it'll be a hassle everytime you remove and regrease the post. Save yourself the agony and buy the right size. 27.2 seatposts are everywhere.
