For any of those you could use a 24mm-ish rim

HED Belgium, Velocity A23 or Dyad, HB+Son--all will work well with any of those tire widths. My personal favorite = HED Belgium. Builds into a nice wheel.

You could try to get the new HED C2+ rims for the wider tires, especially if you are using cantilever brakes

They are 25mm wide rims

I had 700c 32mm tires mounted on Velocity A23s (23mm external, ~17.5mm between the hooks). At air pressure low enough to provide comfort, high speed cornering felt unsettling & unpredictable, and climbing felt mushy, read that added effort. If I were to run a 30-38mm tire, I wouldn't mount it on a rim narrower than 28mm based on that experience.

I have 650b 42mm tires mounted on Velocity P35s (35mm external, ~30mm between the hooks). At air pressure low enough to provide comfort, high speed cornering behavior is only slightly effected. Climbing does require extra effort, but that's to be expected using a heavy wheel with fat low pressure tires. Based on this experience, I wouldn't run a rim narrower than 31mm with a 42mm tire.

While I do like the 23mm rims, there's no reason you need a wider rim for a wider tire. There was a time when skinny rims were the big thing for MTBs and I put thousands of miles on a 1.9 tire/cut down Mavic MA2 rim combo without a problem.

Any rim will work fine but fatter rims, like A23, DT440, others, are 'better' with wide tires.

The SL23 is a beautiful rim, makes a great wheel.
I'm a fan of the HED C2 also.

Great info. Right now I have 38s on ZTR Rapids and they *look* good. The good news is I can run my 465s for a spell.
