I should not be spending any money on more bike stuff right now, but this is super tempting!:

Act quickly then. This looks to be more of a clearance sale than a price reduction.

Killer deal - have one already and love it. I am sure Garmin is trying to clear them out and focus on the 810.

This is a great deal, was hoping the 800 came down when they introduced these new ones. Picked one up. Thanks for posting.

Was looking to pick one up, this made it much easier to do so. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you. I bought one - I tried a friend's on a 200k and I found it amazingly easier than a cue sheet and this price made the decision to buy one easier.

I saw this deal posted on FB earlier in the week, just after spending ~7 hours half lost with a paper cue sheet. Figured it was a good time to upgrade from my 500.

It might be a slightly better deal if you buy it from biketiresdirect, looks to be a clone of Western Bike, but they have some sort of VIP points program?

I needed one for a trip this summer so I ordered from Performance and used their price match, got free shipping and points on my Team Performance card.

I plan to use the Velomap.org site to download free maps after I buy a card for the computer. It doesn't seem to difficult to download maps to the GPS.

Sh1t I just missed the deal. I thought about it too long between the moment I added one in my cart and checkout  Now out of stock.

Anybody bought one and has buyer's remorse? I'd need a mapping GPS for my next trip to the motherland...

Yeah I hesitated and missed it. Probably for the best :)

DC Rainmaker posted the same deal here. And yes, still in stock.

FYI, these will be back in stock at both Western Bike Works and Bike Tires Direct mid to late this week and yes, they are "related". Western Bike Works is Portland's largest bike shop while BTD is their online "shop". Corporate name, "Velotech". The sale is a "rebate" deal just so everyone is aware of how the price gets to $209 for a non-bundled kit.

I need to get rid of my 305. Doesn't seem like it will be a problem.

I'll probably be unloading my 500 once I get the 800 if you're interested.

Wow, not only can I cause stock prices to drop by buying shares,
look what happens when I buy a GPS for my bike!
================================================
Navigation experts are warning about the possibility of decreased GPS accuracy and possible outages over the next months as the sun enters the most active phase of an 11-year solar cycle.

Sunspots and solar flares increase ionising solar radiation, creating more free electrons in the ionosphere. Sudden variations in the density of the ionosphere can cause GPS signals to scintillate and produce delays in signal propagation. The effect is predicted to increase from this month and is likely to last until next year.

It can affect GPS accuracy and in severe conditions can even cause GPS units to fail to lock on to satellites. The effects are worse during the day than during the night. The most likely times affected are right after sunset and latitudes possibly worst affected are about the equator (and in polar cap regions).
