If you haven't read, the Colorado Hwy Patrol has placed the limit on the number of bicyclists who may ride in one event at 2500. And they can lower that at any time based on their 'discretion'. With the largest ride in CO at 7000, this will put a bit of crimp in things. And, as someone who rides the BTC each year, am wondering if I will get to this year.

Anyway, if opposed to same, you can attach your name to a petition and we'll see what happens. Wonder if they will limit the number of folks who run in marathons, etc.? Don't they use the roads, as well?

The State Patrol has suspended the ban for a year.

. . . that the “safety” oriented rider limit is dead for far more than a year--and the state HP commander has gotten a very quick lesson in politics and thinking ahead in terms of PR.

It was a very ill-conceived move that played into everyone’s worst stereotypes of heavy-handed cops.
