View Full Version : Max tire size for IF Club Racer? Also soliciting suggestions for similar frame...

Anybody know for certain if I can fit 700x32 tires (specifically Pasela TG) on an IF Club Racer? I have read multiple places "designed for 28mm tires with fenders" and a few have said something like "could maybe even fit larger tires" but I haven't seen anything definitive.

After becoming infatuated with cyclocross bikes a few years ago and more recently playing around with disc brakes on my last two builds, I have decided I miss road calipers and want to try something new (well, old I guess) and build up a more traditional road frame for the next project.

Oh, and feel free to recommend a similar frame. High end (modern) steel, clearance for 32mm tires, road calipers.

I have been able to put challenge grifos plus fenders without issue on my club racer. Brake clearance is your issue. Note, I have cantis.

Thanks for the info.

Looking to stick with road calipers on this one and don't really plan on using fenders (I have a Soma DC for that...).

Those are 32 mm 'cross tires. I normally run 28mm tires though.

I spoke with Gary at IF yesterday and mentioned your question. He said, it depends on what fork you're using. Give them a call. Good luck

I'm running 32's currently sans fenders with plenty of room left on my if cr. I'll try to post pics later today. I think 35's would fit but haven't as yet tried

I could send you a worn out Panaracer Urban Max 32 x 700c to play with for sizing, gratis.

It has the same tread, and measures out the same as the 32 T-Servs I have on another rig, which I believe is also the same size as the Pasela TG.

I'm rather smitten by the 32 Vittoria Randoneur Hypers I just picked up, but they look a little on the large size. Haven't measured them yet.

Here's my Cielo Sportif with 33.33 Rivendell Jack Brown tires. Plenty of room.
