Those guys at vanilla (Sacha Ben) are doing some amazing things that I personally have not seen in a long while. It resembles days of yester year. Sometime ago I believe that someone posted pictures of a confete that was white w/yellow accents. I remember the amount of work that the builder put into the small touches and was simply wowed. Well I don't know if any of you have seen this but here ya go. Should I mention there is a stem on its way./Users/nicholausmoore/Desktop/4.jpg

I tried for the life of me to attach the picture but I believe there is some sort of encription in the jpg file. The picture can be viewed on vanilla's website so let me give this a try.http://www.vanillabicycles.com

The item in question can be found on a white track bike. And it has a brother on an orangish trackie as well. Hope this helps.

Pdx,
Find the picture that you want to post. Right click on it, select properties, and copy the picture's address. Then click on the insert image button (little yellow mountain) and paste that address into that window that pops up.

S.W. is a TROLL!!!! hehe.

With few exception track bikes do not look "right" to me without quill stems. What's more, at the track quills stems facilitate quick and damage free change out of bars. No...I know what you are thinking, faceplaces obviate this need however a typical TT setup uses a shorter stem so there goes that theory.

Christophs track bike is what got my attention first.

I've got to say that while I am working towards a ti Serotta, there is no bike porn in recent memory that tops Sacha's work. His bikes are gorgeous! I contacted him recently to ask about making a titanium Vanilla and he said that it is on his mind. I think that a full ti Vanilla would end my bike lust (OR....maybe not)

Just trying to start the rumour mill 'a-rollin'!

Sacha, your work rocks. If they ride only half as good as they look, your bikes are world class.

I can't decide if this one:

...or this one:

that I have test ridden, fondled, or raced alongside three of those bikes. As a PDX racer, I'm beginning to feel a bit left out on my non-Vanilla bikes.

TT,

I think you must have accidentally deleted the part of your post that says "
With few exception track bikes do not look "right" to me without quill stems, but your bike DO look right quill or not" Come on now, my ego may be huge, but that doesn't mean it isn't fragile.

Incredible. Sacha makes the best looking bikes I've ever seen. I shudder at how hard they must be to keep clean, though.

Coincidentally, I saw my first "live" Vanilla this morning - A cross bike, being ridden through 2" of snow in the Blue Hills. Vanilla White, with Sky Blue panels... yum! And caked in mud and snow. It was gorgeous.

The rider seemed a little surprised when I called out, "Beautiful Bike! A Vanilla!", but he did manage to say thanks...

No, just out riding my mountian bike in the Blue Hills Reservation (http://www.mass.gov/mdc/maps/BLUE.GIF) . He was with two other guys, one a a Kona and the other on a... uh... Giant, I think. I didn't notice their jerseys, but they didn't match either.

I noticed them first because (1) I usually don't see XC bikes there, and (2) they were making the speed look easy. I noticed your handiwork when they passed me about 5 minutes later.

Was there a race near here today?

...and what team? Gentle Lovers? Team Vanilla?

Hi,

Team Vanilla. There are two Vanilla riders out there. Molly Cameron and Shannon Skerrit. I think you probably saw Shannon, Eric Tonkin (Kona rider) and Carl Decker...all super fast, and nice guys too.

Those are some very, very nice looking bikes. As a matter of fact, that track bike is probably the nicest looking bikes I've ever seen. It's not just the impeccable craftsmanship that is evident, it's the added creativity that does as much to provide a really striking look to it. Very impressive.

S.W. It's all good Sasha. My comment was really about me. This was my first yr. racing track and my so called track bike is threadless. I could not get comfortable with the inevitable fatigue cycle of loosen / tighten on those small stem bolts...and you gotta adjust and check the HS EACH frickin' time I switch from TT to RR config.!!! Stem bolts on a threadless road bike are torqued and forgotten for a year however at the track at one event I had to change the bars 3 times one day. Quill makes it a safe and repeatable operation...but you knew that dewwwwd :) Its your world my man.

PS - Yes, that is our uber standard poodle "Beau" linked on the znfndl thread. He is 9 yrs. old.
