Guinness Beer Cycling Jersey - do they exist?? Where can I find one?? With Xmas around the corner, a Guinness Jersey would make an ideal gift..... for me! Any information would be greatly appreciated!!

Darrin

P.S. Iceman Cometh Challenge 2006 registration opened today!

They do exist, but I am not sure they are readily available at the retail level.

There was a team at one of the charity rides I did that was sponsored by a Guinness distributor and they had very cool Guinness jerseys.

I haven't seen them anywhere else.

I predict that ICEMAN will be full by early April. That's not a hard guess because I think all 2500 entries were full by late April this year weren't they?

I didn't know you raced it! I've been told that the full distance is one of my goals for 2006...but I think Ore to Shore may be what I want to do instead...

:-)

This year at Iceman it was pretty awesome to watch the pros blast through at road paceline speeds...on dirt...in the woods...wow...

I bought some of their socks at the 2004 Tour de Blast. I think they are out of Portland, OR.

I didn't race this year because I waited too long to register. My wife and I were there most of the day since our place is just a couple miles away from the finish line. It was cool to see the pros and even see former posties come across the line. I made sure to register today because you are right, it is going to fill up by March/April.

Ore 2 Shore is in August (the 12th, I think) and looks to be a great time. My wife and I are both entering the Hardrock Class (47 miles). http://www.oretoshore.com/

Hope to see you at both events!

That was me, Bruce.

I have five or six sets in my closet from the Guiness Adventure Racing team. My PMC team was sponsered by them until my contact moved to another company. I also have a couple of jackets and a nice set of BBQ tools.

You could always go with this one: http://www.teamirish.org/guinness_jersey.htm

I also believe that a retail version has been available in the past from the web site.

Sorry big guy, a tad on the tight side. I already gave you all the jerseys I had that were too big.

The shorts might fit you, though.

Darrin,
Congratulations on registering already! This year there were quite a few registrations for sale in the MMBA classifieds if I remember right.

I didn't have to register this year 'cause I'd been rolling over my registration since 2003 due to surgeries.

I'm thinking of doing the half distance ore-to-shore. If you register early (right around now I think) you get a good discount on your entry fee...

I could customize a stem or seat post for you....or a pint glass.

I gave him a XXXL PMC Jersey from two years ago, the one that looked like a Red Sox uniform. If it was too big for me, it would have looked like a Mu Mu on you, and you have one anyway.

However, the Guiness shirt would probably fit you, so you can have one of those if you want.

Hey William, I checked the shorts and they are large, so it I'm not sure if they will fit you. If you want to grab lunch tomorrow, I can swing by your office with the shorts and you saddle and post.

See, whining and kvetching CAN get you something. :D

I was actually kidding, but if you have lots of them and are serious (They were cool), we'll have to engineer a jersey swap.

I'll look and see what I have that might interest you.

Size??

There is a Guinness cycling team here in Portland, and in my last race a masters guy passed me and then I started to chide him about free Guinness after the race. I passed him back on a hill and shouted "Guinness for strength" to him and he laughed.

Wow Mary Ann, it's great that you and your coach could come to an agreement on one of your race goals for next season. :D You should do Ore to Shore and Iceman, they're both quite a few months apart and have their own color and flavor. I might be at Iceman next fall, we'll just have to see.

And to stay on topic, Guinness is good, but Bell's is local.

Well Sarah,
We agree on the Mt. Washington Hill Climb.

He initially thinks the half distance Ore to Shore and the full distance Iceman...and he of course would like to see me race my mtb...but we'll see about that.

I don't drink beer but when I did I thought Bells was better than Guiness.

Yes! Bell's is local and quite outstanding. Alas, they don't have any jerseys in my size. Remember when Oberon was called Solsun?? Thanks for the link!

O2S is Aug 12 and Iceman is Nov 12 - a nice gap of time in between. I hope you are able to do both!!

Give me a call in the am. I'm not sure if I can do it but I'll try to get away for a short period if I can. I've been swamped this week in lighting (have a show coming up)....which has put me behind in Z-Glass. :crap:
