View Full Version : It's not about the bike
"Beastley informed us that he’d just departed a harsh winter in his native land, the Yukon Territory. He’d hopped a series of freight trains to complete the 3,100-mile journey. His $200 fat bike was fresh off a Walmart showroom floor."...

Oh, they've hit the stores already? Even since I saw the news article about them, I've been meaning to pick one up...
$200 is a throwaway price, I think I spent more on tires last year.

What a world.
I knew guys like that in Colorado in the mid 80's. They would rip any (I mean any) run at Vail mountain on the ****tiest equipment imaginable. I worked with a guy from Maine who would ski the steepest runs in the worst conditions on mountain touring telemark skis and low-cut leather boots and utterly kill it. He rode his bike to Vail from Maine, worked that year and then rode to Alaska. He carried everything in a mid size backpack including his ski equipment. And he NEVER ever complained about anything.
I ain't sh*t compared to people like that.
Manuel just made my freeking week.

Great story though.
