This is Ruby...for obvious reasons.

Generally not, but a bike I am considering reminds my of Porsche's Minerva blue. If I bring her home, she will be called, you guessed, it Minerva.

I like the idea of posting a picture of a bike on the forum and we'll throw out names for it.

Not sure what I'll call my new bike.... lots of ideas though. Will have to ride it first.

The only bike I ever named rusted. Never again.

I was actually thinking "90" or "interstate" or something like that. I met Dave on a cross country trip from Boston to Seattle along interstate 90. Also, the colors are loosely (among other things) inspired by the interstate shield.

I like "I-90," personally.

I've never named my dogs, I'm not about naming my bikes.

No. I like bikes, but can't say that I form that personal a relationship with them. I enjoy riding, and it's a fun passtime, but a bike's just a bike, hence no name.

When my wife asks which bike I'm going to ride, I tell her "the white bike". All my bikes are white.

The builders of my bikes named them. Serotta, Pacenti, Look, Zanconato, Hampsten. I can't do better than they did.

Maybe you shouldn't have named it Rusty... Then again

I used to like the show Scrubs so my bike is named Sasha just like his scooter. And my opinion is, once you've named your bike, it gets that name forever until it dies or you sell it. But you can never give future bikes the same name. Although suffixes can be had for future bikes.

I do the same thing but I have to differentiate some by adding MTB or Road.

I like Matt's idea but I think people should post a pic of their bike and "We" get to name it and they have to forever go by that name for their bike.

Wheni had it, I named my Ironman Centurion "Marbles" after the paint job. My Sworks is named "Calamity" because of the parts on her. The Dean is "Dean." the Bianchi CX bike still needs to earn her name and I have no idea what I will be naming the Della Santa. I think I might name my wife's Tommasini "Pinky."

How about "Roland"?

Not for most of them, but we call our tandem Cliffy, which is short for Clifford the Big Red Bike.

bing, bing, bing, we have a winner!

Object of the ride is the ride, not the bike. It's just 'there' to get you 'there'.

See, I respectfully disagree. If it is getting you from here to there, there is not any reason you can't name it like a boat. The name does not interfere with the pedals or the chain, it just caps off the thought involved in the build or the state of mind you want to keep yourself in.

The beautiful part here is I can name my bikes, you can call me a moron, and we can still ride together and have a beer. :)

OK, name your bike, I don't. The original post and question was 'do you name your bike(s)'. I was answering.

I didn't call anybody a moron, I agreed with the guy who also doesn't have an emotional attachment to the 'thing' that allows us to ride a bike.

I don't name my cars or spoke wrenches either.

Do what ya want.

I was not going after you at all, sorry if that came across stronger than I intended... I meant it more playfully... You did not call anyone a moron, I was kidding around.

not for me...

the bike's appearance and performance are a major part of what compels me to ride.

give me an ugly, heavy, poorly-performing POS bike and I'll probably opt to walk instead.

Vinayakan became famous as a dancer. His own troupe used to perform in various stages across Kerala. Thampi Kannanthanam was impressed with his dancing skills and gave him a small role in his film Manthrikam. Vinayakan imitated Michael Jackson in this movie and became popular among Malayalam audiences.

My black and yellow Legend is The Queen Bee. Thus the origin of "BumbleBeeDave."

My yellow Fisher HooKooEKoo is "MT Bee."

My Redline cross bike put together out of many differnet parts from eBay is "Project FrankenBee."

My specialized S-Works E5 with the Domina Vacanze Cipollinin paint job is the Zebra Bike.

I name some of them when it strikes but not all of them at this point.

Tessa is my cross bike, Marissa is my unbuilt Merlin, Caroline is my Cervelo. My other two road bikes haven't had a name stick yet. The mountain bike is also anonomous at this point.

Strangely, for someone who struggles to remember names and faces, I can still recall the names of bikes that are no longer part of the stable. Tara was my Felt time trial bike, Leah was my Ruegamer, Christine was my first real racing bike. Memories.
