First time post on Serotta. A few weeks ago, my custom Zanconato (Dedacciai steel, Sachs lugs) was stolen from a locked moving van in NYC. I was devastated. Although it was the only Zanconato in Manhattan, I've pretty much given up hope of spotting it.

The builder, Mike Zanconato in Worcester, Mass., was kind enough to move me up in his wait list to get a new bike. I thought it would be fun to get some helping picking lugs. Go ahead and cast your vote.

First is Sachs' Richie-issimo Series. The other choice is Sachs Newvex Series. Thanks for your input!

of your kidnapped steed. Might help us understand your direction.

Who knows... might help locate your steed.

Both are good looking lugs, but I'm on this simple elegance kick.

Working on getting a photo down to less than 150kb now...thanks for asking.

I'm with Kevan, I prefer the simpler design instead of the more ornate lugs.

If you are going to paint the lugs, go with the simpler style, but if you want them to really show well, have them polished to a chrome like finish. See the difference it makes it readily apparent, see my two bikes link in my sig below. The beater bike really shows well.

If you are getting a curved steel fork I like the fancier lugs. I think the simpler ones might be better with a carbon fork.

Simpler lugs on small bike look better, my opinion of course.

I'm of pretty inconsistent opinions concerning "open source" frame building...
Maybe I think you should leave it up to Zank.

No vote from me, but I like both sets much.

"Open source" frame building--I like that phrase. I think Zank has Richie-issimo on his own bikes, so...

has the Newvex lug set. i think e-Richie told me it was the second frame he built with that lug style. i think it looks great on my bike. if you go with the steel fork considerusing them.
on the upside of the "issmo" lugs the cable guides are built into the bottom headtube lug........really sweet and clean!

it's simple, but not easy.

simplicity of design = elegance

what I meant, not the actual production process

I vote for Newvex as I like a little style ... I guess I'm not a fan of the really simple lugs ... why? i don't know, I guess it's a bit of a snobbish thing. If I'm buying a Sachs, why do I want my lugs to look like that on my inexpensive, '88 Centurion? OK, Sachs Richie-issimo lugs are a little fancier with the cutout, but the basic shape is the same. I personally want a lug that says "yeah, this frame has a little something special added to it"

But ... that's just my opinion ...
