Hi all,
I am going to Trexlertown in a few weeks to do their track clinic. Does anyone have any tips on other worthwhile things to do in that area? You all were most helpful when I went to Atlanta - the suggestions made my trip.
Thanks,
RB

I don't really know of much up that way...there's Dorney Park and a few bars that are pretty decent. You can always head down to Philly for the night - it's onlly about an hour.

If you're into taxidermy and bare ammo shelves, there's a Cabela's on 78.

I don't live that far from T-town, but I've always wondered . . . is there anything fun to do in the Allentown/Bethlehem area (if you're not into casinos)?

LOL @ Cabelas...

I went up there with my father, who had raved about it, and thought it was an oversized k-mart sporting section. No ammo at all. Some tacky taxidermy. Too many people and too many fanny packs.

I don't get it.

I went there to look at camping gear, only to find that their notion of "camping" revolves mostly around camouflage seat covers for your truck.

Also, commercial-sized meat grinders.

We passed by Trexlertown recently on our way up to Stroudsberg to do a tour of the Delaware Water Gap area. Beautiful riding up there! Before the Water Gap, you pass near Lancaster PA and all that Amish farmland, which also makes for beautiful riding. Maybe venture out into the countryside for some touring?

Aside from some incredible road riding and many mountain biking venues, there are a few things to do.

Bethlehem in particular is a small town but has a few points of interest if you are into the arts. Godfrey Daniels is, I believe, the oldest cooperatively owned coffeehouse/small music venue in the U.S. Small, intimate venue heavy on folk, blues, jazz.

ArtsQuest Center at Steelstacks is a relatively new arts complex with indoor and outdoor venues (outdoor includes a Levitt Pavilion). Bethlehem Steel's defunct blast furnaces are featured as the backdrop of the stages, are lit with various colors in the evening and offer a very industrial vibe. Banko's Alehouse Cinema is also here. It is still a bit early in the season for outdoor festivals and concerts, though.

Zoellner Arts Center at Lehigh U. is also a great performing arts venue.

Moravian College's South Campus is home to their Arts College and is located in mid 18th century buildings. The Payne Gallery is here.

A 30 year-old independently owned record store, Play it Again Records, isn't as big as Amoeba, but is packed with punk, indie etc. vinyl that could keep you occupied for some time, if you're into it.

The Moravian Book Store on Bethlehem's Main Street is the oldest independently owned book store in the country.

Lots of art galleries in town. A bunch on Bethlehem's Main St. and Monsoon in South Bethlehem is worth a visit.

The Banana Factory is an arts center with ~30 resident artists. Has a glass studio, ceramics studio...

Some decent restaurants. One real standout is Bolete.

New Hope is a small town about an hour south on the Delaware River filled with galleries and restaurants. Very nice drive on Route 611/32 to get there.

Hope this helps.

That track is piece of cake to ride, not a lot of wind compared with other ones I been to, like the one in miami riding at night, this is the most under rated track in the US IMO, like it a lot more than T-town to be honest.
