I have a Marin Rift Zone full suspension 26" bike I bought new in 2001. It has provided me with lots of fun rides off-road. Lately I have been cruising around town on it with its knobby cross-country 1.9 tires. It was fun but the knobs make the ride on pavement buzzy and cornering slightly spooky.

So as a fun experiment I bought some 26x2.1 Continental Town and Country tires. They have a solid center strip and negative treads (as opposed to knobs) on the edges of the tread. Much smoother/faster rolling on pavement with very secure cornering grip. Between these fatties at 45psi and full suspension the ride is very cushy even on our crappy pavement. I think they will be pretty good offroad on the hardpack that is typical in my area.
