Hi..I picked up a pair of the 25mm gp4000s as the like the full volume of the gp4000 in the 25mm size. I have not mounted them after reading some views of tire blow offs, guys claiming that they slide without reason and sidewall issue.
Please comment if you have used the gp4000 tires. Are the some of the poor reviews a case of rider error's, makes you wonder about some of these poor reviews....

I've been using the 23C Conti GP4000S tires on two different bikes pretty exclusively for the past several years (basically, ever since they were first introduced). Never had any problems with them.

25mm GP4000S on 3 different bikes now... no blowouts. The only flats have come from pin-sharp wires or thorns.

I generally get tired of them before they flat.

Durable - last forever. Bulletproof. No problems.

Great tyres.

Check out the customer reviews on Wiggle or Chain Reaction and you'll find loads of people who are really happy with them. General consensus is that they are a really good combination of durability and performance.

Echo the above. Never flatted, 3 yrs on my Ottrott.

Thx, for all the reviews, I'm currently using 25mm duranos and the 25mm gp4000 have a more volume so I'd like to give them a try.
Has anyone A/B the gp4000 to the duranos ?
Thx for all the help !!

Never tried the Duranos, but the GP4000s are fabulous, durable tires. If anything, I tend to ride them too long because they wear through long before they will flat.

Agree with others here, the 4000 in 25 is a good tire. Virtually flat free, rolls and rides well and is plenty durable.

It's my favorite tire. My only problem is that they're ruined me for any other tire.

They are total crap and anyone who rides on them is risking life and limb. Send yours to me for proper disposal.:)

I love them.

I did have one manufacturing defect in a GP4000 that caused a blowout, but given that's one problem in over a decade-plus of riding various Conti's, I think that's an okay failure rate.

Ride 'em and enjoy 'em.

Used these on my workbike (messenger). Never had issues. Less punctures than any other tire i tried that doesent ride like a brick.

Good tires imo!

another plug---thousands of miles and never an issue. Dry, wet and dirt, tires can handle it all.

been using conti gp4000's both 23c and 25c for 7 years now on both mavic and hed c2 rims. love them. vertually no flats even wearing tires down to cord. get about 2500 miles on rear tires down to cord. can't say enough about them.

Its satisfying reviewing your stack of 23-25mm 4000S, and you're good through next summer, the potential tear or blowout covered. :) Seriously wish they came in 28.

3 years on GP 4000 S 25mm and never even a flat. I ride them on bad roads and gravel all the time. No issues. If you pump them up to 120 psi then you are looking for trouble.

My favourite tire [tyre] of all tires. Many riders over fill the 25mm - max should be around 90 psi [that's my personal opinion]. There have been huge debates on tire pressure on tire sizes where a 25mm will need less pressure than a 19-20mm ...and the usefulness vs uselessness of high pressure for control on regular roads [that are not perfectly smooth]. I get about 3,000 miles out of a pair of Conti 4000S easily. I went one year without a flat through two and a half sets. Pure luck. Evening inspections, anytime the tread tops had shallow cuts or mild pock marks from sharp stone abrasions, I'd super glue [gel glue] the imperfections by deflating and gluing and then pump them back up for the ride the next day. Always inspect them. They do pick up sharp garnet type grains time to time in construction zones or road work areas a lot easier than other brands I've ridden. But they are an incredibly comfortable tyre. Fast and light too.

^ For tire pressure I'd like to see pictures of weight deflection, to see what page we're all on.

This is true. Usually a 165 lb rider, 100 psi on Conti 4000S. I've read all sorts of accounts to add psi for those heavier or carrying gear [commuting etc]. I've been looking for the articles on the 25mm comfort zones vs performance vs rim widths. For the moment here's an article in generality (http://www.schwalbetires.com/tech_info/inflation_pressure). Another here on Conti's at the bottom of the article (http://www.roadragecycling.com/2013/04/tire-pressure-what-can-we-learn-from.html). I do run 90psi front, 100 psi rear with a full knapsack on my back while commuting -170 lb rider.

I'm about 173lb right now, and run 102-105 (rear) for 23mm, and 92-95 for 25mm. Of course there's still gauge variation. I'd still like to see pics of *clincher* tire weight deflection. Maybe VeloNew could do the technical write up--at least it would be practical compared to most of the nth degree read-on-the-toilet stuff they feature.

Some of these issues have been discussed here (http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/article/bicycle-tires-puncturing-the-myths-29245/) and below too.

Me too, and I love them. With latex tubes, they are comfortable and they've proven durable on the pavement-optional rides by me. They are good tires.

I've never had the 25's, but I've never had a set of 23's that weren't flat prone and sidewall cut prone.

I tried them when they first came out......didn't last 1,000 miles.
Next year, a set were given to me as a gift. Put them on the bike, after 5 flats in 600 miles (after almost 5,000 miles on Michelin Pro 3's w/o a flat) I threw them out.
2 years later, talk of an improved sidewall and a sale had me try them again. Same result, only this time they lasted 2 weekends.

Meanwhile, I can count on 2 hands the number of other flats in the last 10 years.

Burn me 3 times, shame on me.

Running the 25mm 4000S's on DTSwiss RR465 rims at 100 / 110 F/R. I'm currently 215#, but I was using these pressures at 260# last year and didn't experience any issues.

Hmm...wonder if I could drop em another 5psi.

I'm 180-185# and run 105F/110R on my 25s...zero problems, on a variety of bikes...FWIW.

+1, Conti 4000 25s for a few more reasons than other tires

I run the the 23c ones on my Merlin and they are great. And I am around 200 lbs.

I live in NYC and bike over some of the worst roads and have not had a flat with 25c through a whole season.

Just for reference. I had 3 flats in one ride on the 9W with Pro3s. I also have a set of Vittoria Rubino Pro Tech III that are pretty durable compared to my experience with Michelin tires.

25 mm - 110 psi, 162 lb rider -they roll fast and the traction/grip is fine.
