I'm in favor of allowing folks to be A**hats if they so desire!

I'm a big boy and can decide how to deal with them on my own. There is no need for the forum to protect or shelter me.

While I sympathize with the sentiment, the forum moderators reasonably wish to protect the experience for those are more sensitive to negative emotions and from those who feel fairly unconstrained. They must pick a point on the continuum of moderation which by definition will not be the point folks at different points would favor. I'd rather they pick a point of relative blandness than relative aggravation, and they do, but I get the annoyance that vanilla engenders.
