View Full Version : Turning my old Ksyriums into single speed . . .

I've got my old SSC's sitting in the basement. What would I need to do to turn them into a single speed setup to use on my Langster?

Remove cassette body . . . and get new axle? What exactly would I need to buy?

Can anybody point me to a good step-by-step online somewhere? Any general tips?

Many thanks!

just curious, does a Langster have 130mm rear spacing?

I'll go measure. That may kill the idea right there . . .

pretty sure it's 120 spacing on a langster.

Yeah, I don't think this is going to work barring major groundbreaking surgery. Ksyriums are 130mm and there are not any shorter track axles or anything available. Undoubtedly you could find some Mavic track wheel parts and maybe effect a workable swap, but it would be far far cheaper to sell them and buy some cheap single speed wheels.

Or... sell the Langster, and convert the Queen Bee into a single speed/fixie.

Always figured you for a hipster anyway. ;)

True! Get a Eno Single Speed Rear Hub on the QBee and be done with it. Be hip yo!

Single speed or fixie?

SS, easy, spacers, one cog, lockring.

Fixie-no can do.
