Maybe it's because I'm an old Eagle Scout and have backpacked throughout the Rocky Mountains, but I am always interested in ideas for efficient packs, bags and racks. After all, you need your gear and ways to carry your gear.
I have experimented with a variety of bike bags and supports, as discussed in other threads here. And I wanted to try the Carradice system, as precious and elf like as it is. ;)
IMHO, the Carradice Barley, and I assume other Carradice bags, need some kind of a support. There is no way I would ride with that bag hanging from the saddle and attached to the seat post, rubbing against my legs.
The Alu Bagman II has apparently replaced the original, which was made of steel and did not have the additional supports. Bagman II is very solid, even though a bit more complex to setup and/or move to another bike. The Quick Release, is a winner and the way to go. BTW, BII also works as a mini rack for carrying other things like camera bags and my gym backpack.
