Valverde, Contador, Gilbert.....

Not confident, but at least you know the names...

Purito. And Cunego is my dark horse. Did anyone try the Velonews contest for Paris Roubaix? The top three essentially only had Fabian Cancellara as number 1 and got nobody else right. Worst contest ever.

If you picked second place in Roubaix...I tip my hat to you. I'd like to see Cunego there. He gets blasted for being a "disappointment" after being labeled the next (fill in the blank Italian Grand Tour Messiah)...but has had a very good career. I find myself pulling for him. I think Valverde and Contador will be there (Both will leave it all there)...and I think the same can be said with Gilbert...and he's trending the right direction.

I feel like good picks require a little 'favorite' and a little 'long shot'....

1. Rodriquez
2. Hesjedal
3. Vaneneaert

One of my favorites here.

I am going with Moser, Froome, and Valverde in that order.

You heard it here first: Nibali, Rolland, and Moreno, in that order.

I'm going waaay out on a limb here:

1.) Gilbert
2.) Valverde
3.) Someone from Astana, but not Nibali

I think with Roche aux Facons out this year Nibali and Contador won't have a chance against the punchers. I'd love to see Contador win; I wonder if he'd get booed on the line like Vino.

I really thought Purito had it in the bag. But Hesjadal put in a GREAT effort dragging up Martin. Excellent execution!

my picks of Hesjedal and Rodriguez were looking good until the end! Good for the winner! No disputing that win!

The move by Ryder took guts and then for Dan to just ride Rodriguez off his wheel was very fun to watch.

Ryder is friggin ridiculously thin....thinking that dude is ready for May.

Bring on Giro

Has anybody ever been better at cleaning up junk sprints (3rd, 4th) than Valverde?

Rodriguez is such a specific kind of rider. When he was caught from behind I doubted he'd have anything extra when the slope declined.

Nibali is a 95th percentile guy. Would you pick him to be your team leader? He's more athletically gifted than Leipheimer but needs a similar grinding denouement to break just right to get wins. Can't think of a single course type that would say Nibali the way others say Purito or Wiggins or Contador.

snippet / comments album below

"Many contributed to the success of these genuises. The band, Matin, Geoff Emerick (their lead engineer), but the most important is Brian Epstein. Epstein took them out of the gutters of Hamburg, dressed them up in suits and ties and made them the household name we know and love today. Thank you Brian Epstein!!!!

Technical downhill finish?

Two comments:

I can't think of a technical downhill finish, and if I were an organizer I'd avoid them if we're really talking finish. Would be exciting though.

Nibali is a good/very good descender, but to me he does not stand out. I think there are several that are at least as good: Sagan and Valverde come immediately to mind; anybody coming fast down into the finish at MSR. And there again I think we have the 95% question. I think his reputation came from that Tour stage when he came up to Lance on a descent (and then worked for him), since Lance was also a good descender, but in subsequent outings when commentators have prepped a descent with a Nibali watch, the outcome was...nothing special.
