I bought a new 2002 Specialized Allez Sport (http://www.specialized.com/us/en/bikes/archive/2002/2002allez/02alleza1sport27#features) for Mrs. Gadget in 2003 and she put less than 100 miles on it. When my son was big enough, and wasn't on his mountain bike, he would ride the Allez. Soon he started doing triathlons and I found myself upgrading the components to Ultegra until I bought Rider120'2 (http://forums.thepaceline.net/showthread.php?t=112333&highlight=felt) Felt B2 and moved everything over to the Felt.

I've put the bike back together using new and very low mileage used pieces. I wouldn't call it a franken-bike by any means, but it's not straight 105 or Ultegra either. Nor is it Super Record 11. Damn shame, too, or I'd keep it myself.

Would you please tell me what you think it might be worth?

54cm Allez Sport frame/Kinesis carbon fork
Ritchey Comp bars
Ritchey WCS stem
Fizik bar tape - new
Shimano 105 5600 brifters
Shimano 105 5600 brakes - new
Shimano R700 compact cranks, 172.5mm
Shimano 6700 FD
Shimano 6700 RD
Shimano 105 chain - new
Shimano RS-10 wheels - new
Schwalbe Lugano tire, 700x23c - new
Shimano 105 5700 cassette - new
Prologo Kappa EVO saddle - new
Easton EA-90 seatpost

Thanks for your input.

Given you put it together, you're not going to want to hear it, but it has to be worth more parted out than whole. Whole it's maybe a $350-550 bike? Nice bike regardless.

Definitely worth more parted out. A little more work, but worth it if you want to get the most money for it. You could always find a kid that needs a bike and give it away for karma points.

This guy has a similar bike for sale and he wants a whopping $1200!!! It was originally 3k before that, but it seems kind of a sketchy listing to me.

I would try for $500ish on the local craigslist and be prepared to drop down to 4.

For $600-800 you can get brand new entry level bikes from the big names...general bike buying public will have a hard time justifying a 10 year old bike over a brand new bike with fit and warranty from their LBS to save just a few hundred bucks (even if the components are better).

(even if the components are better).

the problem is, they are not better. current 10-sp tiagra is every bit as good as previous gen 105, IMO.

A lot is going to depend on your local market. A 105 equipped bike in great condition could easily fetch $500-$600 around here.

Modern Tiagra is just as good if not better than older 105, but those bikes are going to be around $1,300 - $1,400 new. A new $600-$800 bike is mostly Shimano 2300 which is far below.

Agreed. At the shop i worked at you couldnt get on a new 10 spd allez for under $1200. $800 for full 2300... for $500 thats still a steal for anyone out of the "cyclopath" crowd
