I need to use a spacer to move a cassett slightly outboard so that it has (basically) the same location as another set of wheels with different hubs. This will (hopefully) prevent having to adjust the rear der every time ai change wheels. Anyone know where I can get something like this is a variety of thicknesses?

I purchased a set of these to keep around in case of problems.

maybe PM ergott.

i know he pioneered a trick with various thickness cassette spacers to be able to use loose shimano cogs for a campy drivetrain, so he knows where to get various gauge shims.

I was doing the same thing but got lucky with just one 1mm spacer for one of the wheelsets. The rear hub for that particular wheelset is a DURA ACE 7800 with a slightly larger diameter at the spline. I had to cut open the 1mm spacer to make it work.

Don't mean to hijack the thread but does anyone know where I can find rear freehub (Shimano) spacers with larger diameter, particular for Dura Ace 7800 hub?

Thanks for this thread... perfect timing... had an issue this week swapping wheels with different hubs and ended up having to adjust my rear der. This will be a much simpler solution...

De Nada. It was completely self serving and I thought nothing of the greater good. I'm like that.

This still may not eliminate the problem, but it'll get the cassette into the ballpark and hopefully I'll be able to trim away any noise/jumping at the paddles or the down tube adjusters.

I've used BB spacers before.
They're readily available and come in an assortment of thicknesses.
In fact I've got a .7mm on my MTB cassette right now.

...and where'd you get them? I've done a couple of searches and haven't found too many sources that carry a variety of thicknesses. I'll probably need to but two or three different ones to get into the ballpark.

Well I had a bunch, lost them recently in a move.
I'd think any LBS would carry a variety of sizes, I know when I worked in shops there were always extras laying around.
Jenson has these: link (http://www.jensonusa.com/!miCWWuI81M3Dt-OgGhiIzQ!/Wheels-Manufacturing-BB-Spacer?utm_source=FRGL&utm_medium=organic&gclid=CP78mdHjz7YCFSJlMgodLDwAyA). A little spendy though, I'd expect to pay ~$2 dollars at a shop.

How about the Shimano 10 speed spacer that goes on before the cassette?

I can slice off any thickness you need of PVC conduit. It's what I make cassette spacers of when I need to replace or respace one.

Sometimes I find it easier to shim the axle. 10mm axle washers can be had down to 0.5mm. Doesn't work if you have fancy hubs with 12/15mm alu axles, but for old steelies it works peachy.

I have grabbed them numerous times from various local shops. Never had an LBS charge me for one...or a handful. Not to say they won't, but they typically have them around.

Question ... Is it safe to run two Shimano spacers behind the cassette or put another way, run an extra behind the 7800 cassette? I can tighten the lock ring, but this forum is full of knowledge ... Want to tap it.

I have a few of the Wheels Mfg 1mm spacers that I'm not using. Send me a pm with your address and I'll throw a couple in an envelope out to you. These are the same as the spacer that comes stock on any DA or Ultegra 10 speed cassette.
These are the ones I have:
