I was curious how many of us ride
track? I don't mean ride track bikes
or fixed gear bikes on the road. I'm
talking honest to goodness velodrome.

I also have clients that commonly refer to Track as only really wanting to ride fixed on the pavement. I for the record ride fixed on the pavement .

Fixed pavemt pounder - no track even remotely close (unless you count PA - too far for me...)

I try to race at T-town at least once a month during the season. Only made three trips this year because I was recovering from a broken scapula (mountain biking accident). Next year I plan on more track including riding the Masters Nats in Colorado.

First time this yr.! Got a coach and jumped in at Trexlertown at the noon time races...that went well and entered State Champs. Instant addict. Track riding is HUGE fun. The comraderie and culture is what I cherish most not to mention seeing all the awesome vintage iron folks are racing. Common sights are 60's and 70's Masi, Colonago, Ralieghs etc. and almost everyone is racing TUBULARS...yeah thats right ;)

Why you ask?

picked up a Pog track frame and I plan to take the
Track-101 class at Frisco Velodrome. Probably enter
the friday nite series.

I was also curious to see if there were any track riders here.

I love track riding, and in a former locale was a founding member and helped raise the funds to build one:

Now hopefully one of the kids who uses this facility progresses to the Olympics.

An indoor one was built about a 2 hour drive from where I live now, hopefully get down there a couple of times this winter.

Best thing about both of these tracks is that they have loaner/rental bikes, worst thing is that a 60 is hard thing to find.

e-Richie, have you heard any news on the track we were supposed to get in New England? NCC aquired the Vandendrome, but it seems they are having trouble finding a location. Is that right?

I've got 5 acres in my back yard. Rhode Island is centrally located ya know...Conn/Mass. ;)

If you ever get out to the PNW, you have to hit Alpenrose.

Talk about steep banks....took me a couple of laps around the apron before I got the nerve to jump up there. Once I did..WOO-HOO!!

...the Vandendrome...

I've ridden on that track. Very short. Very steep. Watched Mark Whitehead break a chain on the banking, go straight over the handlebars, and land on his back. :(
