The question about Neuvation reminded me to follow up on a note from Steve in SLO a number of months ago: they have a 22-mm wide rim choice now, resulting in a 1470-gram wheelset for $399, Shimano or Campy.

Any experiences out there yet?

Man, I should've done this instead of spending the time and effort to build my own.

No you shouldn't have. When ya don't pay a lot for a wheelset, you get a cheap wheelset.

Yep, they work but geezz, the hubs, build, are so......inexpensive.

+1...you usually get what you pay for especially with low spoke count wheels.

Even though I ride Shimano I like the way you think Peter! Love, love, love those DA 9000 hubs on that very nice wheelset you recently built for me.

Bianchi had a similar hub flange to those a couple of years ago, and they would crack and break with moderate use.... So buyers beware!

John of Neuvation is a good guy, has a stellar reputation and great customer relations. I have a set going back ten years that I still use for tooling around the city.
They are not my favorite wheels but good bang for the buck especially if you haven't deep pockets to buy eye candy.

Some of the higher priced "manufactured" wheels envy Neuvation's reviews.

I've had two of Johns wheelsets and can't say enough good about them! One pair in particular I used on my dirt road bike and beat the crap out of them! I mean potholed fire roads, seasonal roads, single track and one he'll of a lot of regular roads. After many years the rear wheel gave up the ghost, I forget what even went wrong with it. I hung it up in my shop cause I never abused a wheel like that and couldn't believe how long it lasted. I'd brag about it to my buds.
I called up John to buy a new wheel as I was very happy with there product. I started to tell John how great there wheels were and I told him about the one that finally crapped out on me he said send it in. I said no John I've beat the crap out of that thing for many years and it doesn't owe me a nickel. He said send it in anyway. A couple days later a new wheels was on my porch when I got home! Still using it today. John sells good wheels cheap! Has a great entertaining email he sends out daily also, ask to get on the list!
