Anyone here have any idea on an ETA for the DT/Swiss RR1.2 rim?

Tubular rims in the pipeline?
(so their rider's can stop putting stickers over the top of ambrosio rims)...

2.1 rims due in Jan. No tubulars in the pipeline right now. Believe me, I've been bugging them about that! THe big M needs more competition!'

You'll have to settle for velocity escapes for now.

TT-I've had very good luck with the Escapes that I've built up for people in the past...

VelocityUSA is 45 minutes up the road and they've always been a pleasure to deal with...

I need a 'med' profile clincher rim for this project for a good friend looking into the Fusion's; that's how I stumbled across the RR1.2...

I know the Fusion used to be the fav rim of Dave Thomas' out at Speed Dreams, looks like he's into Aerohead's now though. Any experience with the Fusion's here...

Does this imply that you find the 1.1's to be deficient in some way? I'm riding a set that I like, but I'm no wheel guru, so I'd love to hear your thoughts.

you are correct sir- my bad-

but do tell what if anything is different- I have a set of the 1.1 I think they are an impressive rim- not really better than an open pro- but not any worse either- I would call it a draw between OPs and the DTs-

Which means the DTs are nice rims

Dirt-pal,

I can't get the image to upload, seems that my computer's a little slow on the uptake on cold Nov. mornings also. Here's linkage maybe you can do better...

The 1.1 does look like a nice rim, I just wish they would have done an offset design for the rear. This seems like such a great idea and would love to find a offset rear rim with eyelets.

You would think that by now one rim would have it all...
double eyelets and offset rear.
How about in the 400-450 range and
TUBULAR!!!

Yeah, No kidding...

There you go Eric that's your claim-to-fame. I've been told that velocity used to do custom extrusions if you ordered enough of them, maybe you could put together a business plan and make it happen...

Anybody want to start the preordering??? I'm good for at least 2 pari and I count also count on my friends to get at least a dozen more pairs. Who else is in???

Eric,

I'd be good for several sets, but I think your looking into fairly decent volume for something like this (maybe hundreds of rims...). They will need to cover the cost of having the new dies made, which I'm sure isn't cheap. The guys at velocity usa are real great, they're just up the road about 45 minutesfrom here. Maybe I'll give 'em a call tomorrow and see what they have to say...

Why haven't they made them themselves?? :crap:
I blame all you prebuilt wheel riders. Look at all the R&D going into them. Most of it's all flash, but the bigs are dumping a lot of money into those things. Who would have thought wheels would have model years!!
Tubulars have been left in the dust and no one puts any money into developing a modern aluminium tubular rim. They should be even easier to make than their clincher counterparts (no clinch, it's a cinch ;) ). Hey DT/Velocity/Mavic/Fir et al, are you listening???

PS leave the hard adonizing for someone who cares.

They still do but you can't afford it!!! By coincidence I've ridden zillions of miles with the hubby to the sister of Velocity's owner...that factoid came out during a particularly awful 600k ride

So what about the Velocity Pro Tubular rim. You can still get them NOS and am pretty well certain they back in production. The rims are soooo stinking strong you don't need high spoke counts or offset kapish?

Agreed, the market needs more options in replacement rims.

I'm looking forward to using this rim and while the 28/32 hole options will make for a stout wheel, I just wonder if they'll offer a 24 hole anytime soon?

Really??? Don't tease Ergott. I scored a set of the Velocity Pro Tubular Rims for the tandem and plan to build them for some events I've got planned in 06'.

The Pro is a tubular version of the Deep-V. They are great bomb-proof rims. After a long break, they are back on the market...

Alex rims just came out with a new "deep" rim at 30mm in tubular and the same rim in an offset, rear tubular "deep" rim.

I think they look pretty nice, I haven't seen it in person so can't say much for the quality.

I have a set of the DA28 rims which built up very nicely, very beefy, the braking surface seems a little cheap but the seam (which i think is pinned) is fine. No eyelets but they are on my fixie and have held up great.

That sounds pretty nice. They say offset isn't needed in deeper profiles, but I'd still want it.

They don't have this asymmetric 30mm in clincher huh?

Whoops, sorry, the Alex rims are only in clincher. you can go to www.alexrims.com, click on the crostini R1.1 and R1.2 (curiosly named just like the DT rims) and you can see the specs.

Velocity is making the deep-V in tubular and DOESN"T have an offset rear rim. Still a perfect rim for a track wheel or cross.

Those look like Ritchey Rims 27mm front with 28mm offset rear. In fact, I'll bet they supply the rims Ritchey uses in WCS set.

Anybody try them?

I just recieved a set of 25mm deep tubular rim wheels, 20/24h with DT Aerolite spokes, they weigh 1368gm. Veloflex Criteriums will be the shoes.
