Here is the picture of the 9 speed dura ace derailler that broke over the weekend. What will work as a replacement?

What sort of toxic sludge have you been riding through?

Agreed. Gotta be a story behind that. You need a clamp-on style front derailler.

You need a 9-speed Shimano braze-on derailleur, you can use the clamp that you have now. 5500 (105), 6500 (Ultegra) & 7700 (Dura Ace) will all work perfectly with your existing components. Or you can use the same variety of derailleurs in a clamp-on model, with a 34.9 (1 3/8") clamp.

Or a clamp-on, if you don't feel like re-using the existing clamp.

But if you get a clamp on, you will need to know the measurement on the clamp - the common sizes are 28.6, 31.8 aka 32, or 35. If you go the clamp route, it should be stamped on the inside of the clamp that you have on there now.

I can't figure out why all the gross stuff that's on the drivetrain isn't also on the frame (or the spider).

I have a new FSA braze on that works well with Shimano and isn't expensive. I have them on a couple of bikes.

if you're riding in salt, either spec cheap,, or make the commitment to at least rinse, and then provide a warm/dry environment. i'm in the same boat, rust belt wise.

check everything else, while you're waiting for the replacement FD.

Looks like a braze on front derailleur.

You also need a bundle of shop rags and some Simple Green, or Bike Lust, etc.

Any shimano for double, 9s front derailleur, Braze-on. A 10s will work inna pinch but it is narrower and doesn't have the travel the 9s one does for 9s spaced chainrings.

Like older 7700/6500 front der or a 9s Tiagra, Sora, etc.

If this gives you a thousand yard stare, go to a decent LBS, it's what they do.

judging by the shark fin nature of those teeth, you need a new drivetrain.

.....and your der is mounted to high. the outer plate of the cage should be 1-3mm above your large chainring.

Also, while we're at it, do a better job of washing behind your ears, and floss before going to bed. ;)
