nexus hub ? / spacing

having problems with my milano

getting popping in rear hub, most gears and not a tension cable position problem

5 years old and ridden constantly getting disengagement in gear(s)

so not working in shops any longer - what are my options - replacement

and if turn into a pursuit (singlespeed) commuter to work what is the spacing.

if i go route above - this bike will drop probably 6 lbs.

and what is the new hub design offered. i am quessing i cannot go alfine

most expensive component on this bike is the rear hub.
