I'm seeing Campy Record Ti Seatposts going for between $250-$350 on Ebay these days. Anyone remember what they went for new, back in the day? Can't recall. Just curious. Jeff N.

I had no idea that Campy ever made a ti post, I have one in my old Merckx and always wondered what it was, thanks.

They're expensive because they only said Record for one year. The following year, the Ti post was Chorus and the Record post was carbon. I'm not sure that the Ti Record post was even in the catalog. At one point they were going to make a steel post (similar to the Daytona post), but for some reason, it was never manufactured. Then the Ti post was introduced.

The Ti Chorus post is the same post as the Ti Record, but if everything's gotta say Record....

Regards,
Tom

PS - If any of the above is inaccurate, I stand corrected.

Ah, maybe mine is in fact a Chorus post, it just has the Campy shield on it with the word "Campagnolo" in it.

Yeah, the Record is collectable because it is so rare. The Chorus ones, which are generally accepted to be the exact same post (please correct me if you know otherwise) are more in the $100-150 range when they come up for sale here. Careful not to over-tighten these, they crimp much easier than other ti posts.

Centaur(Daytona) post was steel, one year. Pulled cuz it rusted.

There was also supposed to be a Record steel post; it's listed in the 1998 catalog, along with a steel Chorus post. I don't think either was produced. I've had Daytona posts, and none of them rusted. The satin finish didn't hold up well, however.

Hrm, maybe mine is steel, does anyone have photos or links to photos of the steel ones? I have found a few photos of the ti posts and my clamp is different.

I have reviewed all the catalogues since the alloy head post design
showed up in 1998, here's a summary chart. There are no posts of any
description in 1999 catalog, but I think that's when the Ti Record post
came out. Both the Ti and the Carbon V1 type are listed in the 2000 catalog.

The nicest post Campagnolo ever made is the alloy centaur
post. If it said Record on it, people would pay big bux. Campag should
reissue it in 27.2 with Athena graphics on it.

But of course! The plug in the Grammo is pretty cool - it was missing the original and Jen Green made this for me.

I bought this in the classifieds - it was listed as a 2000, but that was incorrect...it was built in 94' as per Cristiano (I believe 95' model based on the EL slope unicrown fork), making it one of the first Titanios produced. Another interesting bit is that it was actually made by Ugo De Rosa - nearly all of the ti frames were made by Doriano. I think it's also possible that this was a Team bike since it has the single bottle braze ons and I'm not seeing conclusive evidence that they were even for sale in 94' - 95'.

Super nice bike! pretty rare too!

Jen is THE BEST (and a super sweet person). I really like how the plug came out - it's just such a unique, cool touch. A Grammo with panto! Material is brass with inlay as I recall.

I think the original owner wants to buy it back at some point...it's bounced around a couple of times. I used Campy 9sp record, though I think I used 10sp hubs.

Hmm now i remember this bike i think. There was a long thread about who actually made it out of the brothers, correct?

So who is Jen Green ? I could only find a custom jeweler via google but maybe thats her?

That's her - she specializes in custom headbadges. There's a thread about her on this forum under the showcase section.

I'm not aware of a thread about the bike - it's possible. I have an email from Cristiano stating it was built by Ugo, as well as year of manufacture. Made in 94', but the fork is consistent with 95' model year. My understanding is that this came via Matuzmaster in Hungary - he had some other yellow painted Titanios as well.

We sold the titanio in Germany in 1995 with single water bottle. Indeed the whole idea of double water bottles was initially only an American thing that became commonly accepted in Europe only in the 90's.

Friend at Davidson cycles Seattle made his own Campagnolo Record Ti Seat post He just took a 27.2mm Ti tube Machined off the top of a record aluminum seat post so part that holds saddle slipped inside Ti tube. add a bit of glue and it ready to use

Thanks polyglot! That makes sense...especially since it did come via Europe. Another person who bought one of these said that they were Gewiss bikes that were repainted due to patina to finish. It's obviously not original. The enamel head badge is a nice touch and I wonder who made them.

Is this individual still at Davidson? I've had a project like that in mind for some time, actually thought of asking them, but was afraid they'd laugh at me.

--I mean, they probably will anyway, they do every time I go in there. But if they make the the post I want, I won't care!
