I'd kinda like to replace the fork on my Peg Respo (bought used, here ;-). My understanding is that I'd want one with a 45mm rake.

It seems like the best option would be a Falz fork if I could actually get one, but the interweb posts I read seem to indicate they aren't actually available for purchase independent of a bike.

If not Falz, what? Not looking to break any banks, but the Reynolds Ouzo that came with the bike is kinda beat and bike shop is recommending replacement. Seems like not too many options in 45mm, and many of these are NOS?

Enve comes in 45mm rake

Does the Falz also demand the new Chris King D11 headset?

Anyway, I saw boxes and boxes of Falz forks when I visited Caldonazzo last October. With Dario consumed for the past 5 months with moving his shop, who knows if you can pry one of them loose for a while yet.

or try IBC in Boston area or R&A in New York

Thanks for the leads -- IBC is down the road so may start there. My understanding is the new headset is relevant if you have a newer frame with a wider diameter HT.

If you can't get a Falz, I'd second the Enve fork in 45mm. You might even consider getting it painted to match your frame too and from an aesthetic standpoint, I think that would look sweet.

Not sure about the Falz, but I recall the Enve to be 5mm shorter than the Ouzo Pro.

Hi there,

I have spoken to Gita as of last week and Falz forks ARE available individually, just speak to a dealer.
If IBC is "down the road" or within 2 hours, that is THE PLACE to talk to, they can request anything form Gita I am sure.

The Enve fork is not aesthetically ideal, and does have 5mm less axle to crown. You can get a "5mm tall" bottom crown race for the Chris King headset (if you use that) to correct for the differential.

Or get the Enve in a 43 rake and you'll end up in the same place trail-wise.

Yes, you can get Falz forks a la carte... Savile Road is a Pegoretti dealer.

My Ouzo measures 372mm, Enve publishes 368mm. Gonna replace the Ouzo with an Enve fork.

Part of one and then another entire comment seem to have disappeared. How strange.

If it fit right, I would do Ritchey WCS.

Interesting considering widespread use of the Ouzo Pro-- and good to know the compatibility to the Enve fork.

That is a reasonable price.

This will be my next fork for my Seven AxiomSl....

enve is 367 so there is no 5mm difference

the falz works with either a 1.125 or d-11 headset - only the cups are different

i have a falz on two bikes, it rides great, takes a 25mm tire no problem

I have a lightly used Look HSC3 in 45mm I picked up for a potential Pegoretti project that I abandoned... If you're on a budget I could probably get rid of it.. not much use for me to hold onto a fork waiting for the right pegoretti to come available.

I am looking to replace my Ouzo Pro with a Falz and came across this thread. I am a little confused with respect to the axle to crown difference between the two.

I have a 49cm Marcelo that came with a 45mm rake Ouzo Pro. When I emailed Dario he stated that I definitely need the 50mm Falz. I assume that is the rake he would have originally liked to have specified with my frame however I don't think the Ouzo ever came in 50mm.

So, the confusion I have is the 5mm difference in axle to crown between the Ouzo and the Falz. From what I have read, if you reduce your axle to crown, you need to also decrease your fork rake (45-->43) to maintain a similar trail.

By Dario's recommendation, I would be doing the opposite by going to a 50mm rake. I know you can get a Chris King 5mm baseplate that would compensate for the difference but Dario did not mention that I needed to do this.

Anyone here make the switch and how did they deal with the difference?

Also, do the newer Marcelo frames that come with a Falz have a slightly different geometry to compensate for the 5mm axle to crown difference?

I responded across the hall also....
But Ouzo did come in 50mm rake.
I have one installed.

^ IIRC the Ouzo is +5mm compared to the Enve/Faltz.
