The shop I work in is currently considering new lines and Guru has come up as a option for "custom" bikes. FWIW our other locations carry them, just looking for outside opinions.

Anybody have any direct experience, either as a consumer or retailer?

Thanks

I had one...and loved it. I have nothing but good things to say.

I'll add...I really liked what they had at NAHBS

Great, glad to hear that.

We read a couple horror stories online about QC so glad you had a different experience. I know they have only been doing "stock" for a short time so I assume you had a custom bike?

Thanks

There are few articles on guru on the Peaks Coaching Group website:

I would have the owner call Chris Soden at ProPeloton and talk to him first.

Tell him Peter at Vecchio's sent him

303-415-1292.

Signature carries Guru. A call to Chris at ProPeloton and Paul or Lori at Signature would probably be advisable.

The only person I personally know who owns one loves it. And it weighs, oh, I don't know, -4 lbs or something.

We will do that Christian, thanks.

4lbs...very impressive! That should sell well in our shop.

No, no, -4 (negative four) lbs. Margin of error 18 lbs.

I had a Photon and the BB shell fell out in less than 100km. Their customer service was about the equal of the build quality.

Please forgive my laughter, and I hope you were not hurt.

I am hearing and reading loads of stories about QC issues. Were these early on problems and they are now up to speed and making better bikes?

Oh man...

The shell separated from the downtubes? They didn't give you a new frame? Guru is supposed to have lifetime warranty.

Didn't Guru go bankrupt back in 2009-10??
The shop I work at sold Gurus for a while. Didn't sell very well. No complaints but too many other options.

It used a BSA sleeve insert in the carbon and that came loose. The chainring put a gouge in the chainstay when it happened.

They fixed it eventually, but I was left with a repaired frame with a "story". There's more to the story (a lot was revealed about what kind of company it is) but that would have to be told over a beer some other time.
